Cora's Pov

It was seven thirty in the evening. I was walking on the side of the empty road. Today was weird, I felt like I wasn't me, I am me but there's also another me inside me...like a part of me which trapped in slumber has aroused from within the deepest parts.

There was one thing I am grateful for. Sally didn't say anything about last night, I suppose, she considers it the same thing, I do. A one-night stand. I was worried she'd want more than that because she didn't seem like a one-timer.

I'll still have to talk to her about it. She's my co-worker, and I don't want things to be awkward between us.

Olivia was being her usual slutty self but today with an accomplice, The one and only McKay Acres. Their motives might be distinct but the result of their actions wasn't. While Olivia wanted to sleep with me, Kai wanted to befriend me. In reality, none of these wishes could be fulfilled.

"Hello, sweetheart!" A voice full of joy entered my ears followed by the speaker's entrance. God had I not seen enough of her today?

I hummed and walked passed her. She was quick to follow up. "What are you doing out here this late? You know Anne said there are bad men outside late at night, they hurt whoever they find outside,"

I crossed my arms and continued walking with my eyes glued to the ground while she had her eyes glued to me. "I can ask you the same question,"

She giggled and replied "Yes but I am strong so I can protect myself from all the bad guys,"

I tried to move to the side of the road to get away from her but she kept following me so I stopped in the middle of the road. "Don't follow me" I spoke with a sign.

"Why not? What if the bad guys attack you-" I cut her off.

"I am also very strong, I'll protect myself" I gripped her shoulder and turned her around. "Now leave"

She tried to look back at me and said "But you're old-"

"HEY" I turned her towards me, "say whatever you want to say to me..but old that's a big no, understood?"

"But-"

I left her shoulder and said "No buts I'm barely twenty-nine, I am not old at all"

She looked at me with amusement before saying  "You're just a baby,"

I stared at her in disbelief "How old are you?"

"I don't know, I forgot, I knew it before I arrived here, but then I was so busy fighting non-humans, never got time to keep track of it, I used to think it'd be so cool to fight monsters on the battlefield but now that I am fighting them...it is cool but difficult," She says like a five years old boy explaining batman.

She is genuinely in need of mental care. "Where do your parents live?"

She pointed up to the sky "There,"

"So, they're...I suppose...dead?" Kai shook her head. "You don't live with your parents?" She nodded her head. "So where do you live?"

"With Anne," she grinned.

"And where does this Anne live?"

"With me"

I squeezed my lips together "Whoever is my friend will go straight to their home" She opens her mouth but I add "without any other word." She scratched her head and started turtle-walking into the darkness of night.

I'll just ask the principal to communicate with her parents about her abnormal behavior. After five minutes she had reached a far distance. A car stopped beside me and the windows lowered. "Cora?" Sally revealed her face.
