We arrived at the company Sung-Jae worked at about half an hour later. In actuality it was my uncles company. I glanced at Cho-Hee and she was fidgeting with the hem of her coat. I grabbed her hand and held it in mine while we waited for the driver to open the back door. "Stop making yourself anxious. You go high, I go low, if we catch his ass doing something. You got me?" My statement makes her burst out laughing while nodding her head. She'd been fairly quiet the entire ride over so this made me relieved to hear.

I understood that this was her marriage on the line and it was a big deal. Cho-Hee and I were more than cousins and best friends. She was like my sister. The last thing I wanted was to ever see my baby hurt. To me, Cho had a pure soul. She didn't deserve no shit like being cheated on, especially with a low budget ass secretary. One thing I wasn't gonna do though, is let her be stuck in a miserable ass marriage if he was stepping out on her. Like a billboard I'd once seen while I was coming through Rock Hill, South Carolina said, 'Life's Too Short...OOPS GET A DIVORCE!'.  I don't care how much she adored his ass. I wasn't gonna let her pine after his ass for long. She had a 90 day limit with me to grieve over her marriage. After that, I was tossing her ass back out to the wolves. She was gonna move it right along and be happy! But I prayed, this wasn't the case and she had to go through none of it.

Our chauffeur opened the back door and we slid out the back seat. We locked arms with one another. "Lead the way!" I told her and she giggled. We walked into the front door of the massive building.

"Do I need a security pass?" I asked her.

She shook her head no. "No, you're with me so it's fine. If you're ever visiting by yourself, then yes. We're just dropping in so it's okay."

"Gotcha." I grinned. This place's security seemed more lax than my father's.

Like at my dad's building, I got weird stares from people. This was more than likely due to my choice of clothing today. But I didn't put it past anyone to be judging because of my skin color.

Cho-Hee reached in her purse and pulled out her security badge and swiped it on a monitor that opened a gate. Once we passed through there, we headed to the elevators. After the doors opened, we stepped on with different people. She scanned her badge and pressed the number 45 on the panel.

"I didn't ask, but where the heck is Cho-Min?" I looked at her and she rolled her eyes. "He's here somewhere I guess. We might bump into him once we get up on the executive floor." She shrugged.

"Good. I owe him a slap upside the head for the mess he said in our family group chat a few months ago." I scowled and she snickered.

Cho-Min was Cho-Hee's twin brother. He was an asshole to his core. He literally made me wanna get on a plane just to punch him in his face, his text was so rude and derogatory. Luckily the elders got to him before I did. I remember Cho-Hee called me on FaceTime hysterical saying my dad was gonna kill him. She'd panned the camera around and my dad literally had him by his neck trying to strangle him. My uncle and grandpa stood back and watched. While our moms and grandma tried to get my dad off of him. Needless to say, my dad only stopped when I begged for him not to kill him and let him go. One thing my daddy didn't do, was play about me!

I can't remember exactly what the conversation was, but his response was terrible. It not only degraded black people, it mostly degraded me, a black women in general. He'd directed his response at me because I joked and said he'd be lucky if a woman ever wanted to marry his ass, because another one of his blind dates had thrown water in his face. His comment went along the lines of, 'Nobody would ever want to marry you either, you black ass, backwoods porch monkey. You're better off being someone's slave.' Just disrespectful for no reason. The chat was in an uproar for a while after that happened. I was wayyyy too stunned to even respond. But it was hours later when I received that damn call from Cho-Hee.
