It was a cold November evening and Penelope was dressing up for visiting the opera house to see Christine's performance. Her dress was in a pleasant olive green colour and when she put on her pearl necklace it looked even better. Her dark brown hair were shining. ,,Are you going dressed like that?" Arthur commented. ,,It's an opera" Penelope answered. ,,I can't go dressed like usually. I need a formal gown" ,,Who should like you in there?" Arthur still couldn't accept anyone even looking at his wife. ,, It's Christine de Chagny" she reminded him. ,,A woman and my friend. You don't have to be afraid" she said and didn't let him say anything more. She left the room and hurried to get her coat. Then took a carriage quickly. It felt so good to be free for a while again. She guessed that he'll maybe punish her for running away like that but she didn't care. He never harm her psychically yet and she just wanted to enjoy the opera. Arthur's abusive manners were too much for her. ,,If there still was the phantom I'd send him to finish Arthur for me" she whispered for herself. She meant it only partly. She hated her husband deep inside but she wouldn't think about a murder. The carriage stopped in front of the opera house. The performance was about to begin. She sat down excited like a little girl.
Christine was brilliant as always. Penelope clapped her hands as much as she could. Suddenly she heard a familiar voice. ,,Do you think you can leave our house whenever you want? To leave your husband for the whole evening?" It was Arthur's voice. Penelope was overwhelmed with panic immediately. She didn't think about anything and ran as fast as she could. She didn't even know if her jealous husband ran after her or not. She hid in one of the dressrooms and hoped that it was empty. It fortunately was. She looked around. ,,How can I escape? If I go out he'll see me. I'm trapped" she talked to herself and knelt down to cry. She didn't know if she was scared or angry. She hit the mirror in rage. And it didn't broke...it.....moved. ,,Is that......a way out?" Penelope wondered and looked back. It was an only way to escape Arthur. She wasn't afraid of anything or anyone else. She tiptoed into the mirror. The secret hallway looked like a cave. Or a catacomb. It was fascinating either haunting. It seemed like she was all alone in there. Only her oil green dress and pearl necklace were a little bit colourful thing on that place. She stopped feeling safe. It looked like the hallway was endless. Suddenly she found a ribbon. Her own ribbon. ,,I....I WAS ALREADY HERE!" she screamed. It was a labyrinth. The person that created it had to be dangerously clever. She sat down on the cold ground and cried. Was it better to die in there or to stay trapped in her house with Arthur that controlled her? She herself didn't know. ,,Who are you?" Penelope turned back when she heard these words in a gentle but ghostly voice. ,,Who are you, stranger?" the voice asked once again. Penelope curled up scared. Was it a hallucination? Or was the phantom that Christine talked about still alive? She didn't know the answers on those questions. She tried to stay quiet.
