Penelope was an orphan just like Christine. But Christine was so lucky to get adopted by madame Valerius who accepted her as her own. Penelope lost her parents in her ten years old and her aunt took care of her. But she had six of her own children so Penelope had to work a lot. That's probably why she began to date very early. She needed someone who would pay attention just to her. After a few nonbinding dates she met Arthur. Her future husband. She married him shortly after that. She was naive and in love. Arthur was an amazing husband for some time. He changed when he was sure that Penelope would be dependent on him. Then prison life started for her. ,,How stupid I was..." she whispered for herself when she was lying in the bed in Louis Phillipe room. Erik slept in the music room on the couch. She was proud of herself that she could make him not sleep in that terrible coffin. She believed that it just kept his trauma fresh. She didn't think of Erik just as about a weapon against her husband anymore. She thought if that all went well and she was free after Arthur's death and she left if Erik would keep sleeping somewhere else than in the coffin. She hoped that he would. He really deserved it. He already suffered too much. Maybe he could sleep in the bed in the Louis Phillipe room himself when she won't be there anymore. She curled up in the warm blanket and fell asleep calmly.
She slept so long that day. She woke up when it was a time almost for a lunch. She stretched and went to wash and dress up slowly. Erik was in the kitchen. On the kitchen table were paper bags with fresh chicken breasts and potatoes. In the third one was a fresh plant of parsley. She licked her lips seeing that. Erik probably wanted to cook. He wore a suit while doing that so it looked quite funny. He noticed Penelope after a while. ,,Oh! Good morning, Penelope! I should better say good afternoon but I don't want to be indecent" he said. ,,I don't mind when you sleep for long. It's good for you to take a good sleep" his words warmed Penelope's heart. Christine once told her he cried and begged her that her love would make him as gentle as a lamb. He wasn't lying. She didn't even show that much closeness to him and he already served her like she'd be some goodness. She wondered if he fell in love with her as well just like he did with Christine and just was more careful this time. ,,It looks good" she said with a smile. ,,I hope it will be tasty as well. I will try" Erik said. ,,At least as good as a corpse can make" he joked a bit. He so much tried to be good. Penelope thought about her diary that she hid under the pillow. She wrote her thoughts in it every evening even in Erik's lair. She was sure to write about that beautiful surprise. Arthur would never cook for her.
