Green Bay, Wisconsin
the Emerson's cabin

Lily Emerson occupied the kitchen, finishing cleaning the counters and dishes from lunch with her daughter that occurred a few minutes before. The mid afternoon sun shone through the windows of the Emerson cabin, the sound of small waves lapping at the rocks and birds chirping filled the home. Lily smiled as she noticed her adopted daughter, Haven, painting outside on a wooden table.

Lily and her husband, Scott, had wanted a cabin home outside of the city for a while. And after the adoption when Haven's signs of her powers first started to pop up, it gave them the perfect reason to ditch their cities lives and move to a more remote home. Lily finished washing the last dish when she felt hands start to snake around her waist. She relaxed into Scott's touch as he hugged her close and rested his head on her shoulder.

"You're home early," Her voice rang through the house.

"John insisted that he handle the case by himself," Scott said.

Lily hummed and turned in his arms to hug her husband from the front, "Your and John's friendship and how close you are. It worries me sometimes, Scott."
