2) robots were being sold to the general public for companionship and emotional support. The whole idea behind the robots were to create the perfect partner. If you had a good amount of money you could pick their appearance, personality, voice, gender, etc. or if you didn't have much money you could get a discounted bot which had already been put together or one which had been returned. The bots were made to compliment their owners and react according to what makes them happy. However what if they got so advanced they became independent.
