Chapter 9 Black Eyes

"Are you girls alright now?", Jihyo asked the members.

"Yeah i'm fine", Dahyun responded while bandaging Jeongyeon's hands.

Momo was still sitting in the corner shaking with her eyes swollen, trying to comprehend what had just happened.

Mina comforted Chaeyoung as she began bashing herself for not keeping an eye out for Sana.

"I'm sorry. This is all my fault!".

"It's not your fault Chae. It's not any of our faults", said Jihyo.

"So what the hell just happened?", Momo whimpered. "What happened to unnie?! What the hell was Annie talking about?!"

"I guess we ended up freeing her from a seal that was suppose to keep her locked up. A seal that Adam had originally put on her in the past", Dahyun explained.

"So you're saying that Esther was disguising herself as Annie to trick us into freeing her?", Jihyo asked.

"Well, more like she changed her identity and personality to ensure that no one knew who she truly was. That must be why she had been acting so strange"

"We should have known..."

Jeongyeon stood up. She looked down at the girls with a serious look on her face.

"I'm going after them..."

"You can't! We don't even know where she is! It's not safe to go back up there!"

"Then do you want to stay here and wait for that creature to come back?!", Jeongyeon fumed. "I'm going to look for Annie and murder her with my own hands. Stay here if you want, but I'm not dying without avenging Nayeon-unnie."

"Please calm down Jeongyeon!", the girls pulled her back as she tried to leave the basement.

"Wait!", Tzuyu yelled. "I'm coming with you".

Jeongyeon hesitated. "Alright, but stay out of my way"

"You girls can't go without a plan! We don't even know what Annie is capable of! Or how to even stop her!". Jihyo worried.

"I know how to stop her". The girls looked at Tzuyu, who no longer seemed like the Tzuyu they once knew.

She pointed at the ritual circle.

"We need to perform the sealing ritual"

"What? But we already did and look where that lead us!", Jeongyeon spat.

"No. Annie tricked us into performing something else in order to unseal herself", she walked over to the ritual circle that was no longer active and had returned to it's original state. She began scrapping the floor with an old shovel, slowly revealing what was under it.

"Is that..."

"Another ritual circle?

"Yes.", Tzuyu responded.

Underneath the layers of paint was another ritual circle that had been covered. It was deactivated, just like the current ritual.

"This was Adam's ritual", Tzuyu explained. "Annie must've gone over it with layers of paint to cover it so that we wouldn't find it".

"Fuck! How couldn't I see it!", Jeongyeon cursed.

"So the photograph she gave us was fake?", Jihyo asked.

"Yes."

"Why didn't she just rub it out or deactivate it like we did?", Momo questioned.

"You can't". Tzuyu bent down and scrubbed the chalk. "The chalk doesn't come off once the ritual is over. And as for this ritual, it can only be reversed with another ritual, not deactivated."
