Chapter 10 I'll Protect You

The creature opened its jaws and attacked Jeongyeon. She stuck her machete into its mouth, trying to block it from eating her. It grabbed onto Jeongyeon's arms, drawing blood with it's claws. The girls hesitated in horror. They were terrified, but they couldn't leave her behind. Tzuyu ran towards it with a kitchen knife and stabbed it in the arm. 

The creature threw Jeongyeon and pounced onto Tzuyu, pinning her to the ground. Jihyo came running in with a rolling pin but the creature slashed her arm, causing her to fall back in agony. Jeongyeon leapt on top of the creature and began hacking its back with her machete. The wounds on her hands began opening back up as she continued attacking.

Momo, despite shitting herself, charged straight towards the creature and stuck forks into it's eyes, blinding it as it swung its long arms around. Tzuyu who was still stuck under the creature, began endlessly stabbing it in the abdomen, slicing open its guts as it spilled all over her. The creature took the final blow from Jeongyeon's machete as she forced it deep into it's neck, causing it to collapse onto Tzuyu. 

Adrenaline pumped through their bodies as they stared down at the deceased. JeongMo lifted the demon off of Tzuyu. It's skin was so cold and bony. MiDubChaeng came to aid the girls. Jihyo's arm was bleeding but the cut was minor.

"Everyone alright?"

"Yes, what about you?"

"This is nothing", Jihyo forced a smiled.

Jeongyeon kicked the creatures head and shone her light into its face.

"This isn't Sana..."

"It isn't?"

"So there's more of these creatures?". Momo was still frightened.

"I'm afraid so"

"That means we need to stick together at all times. If we split up, we're all dead meat". Jihyo looked at Jeongyeon.

"Well, lucky I didn't go alone", she shrugged her shoulders. "Thanks for the help though".

"Tzuyu, are you okay? Must've been scary", Dahyun helped her up.

"Yes, I'm fine". She looked down at her hands. "The creature spilled all this black liquid on me. Disgusting".

"Where did that thing even come from?!", Momo looked into Esther's room.

"That must've been what that ritual was for. The one we deactivated. We must've released some sort demon", said Jeongyeon.

"Was the ritual sealing it? But I thought sealing rituals can only be reversed, not deactivated"

"No. If you think back, Lucy and Adam both mentioned that Esther was always speaking to herself, or rather to something"

"Yeah?"

"Well I think the ritual that we deactivated must've allowed those things to enter into our world".

The girls all stopped and stared at Jeongyeon. Their situation continues to worsen.

"Your kidding me..."

"Mina-unnie, how did you know that we were walking into a trap?", Tzuyu asked.

"I saw something at the end of the hallway over there"

Mina explained how she saw bloody footsteps again and the little boy.

"That's like how Momo-unnie saw that little girl up here when we first entered", said Chaeyoung. 

"Now that I think about it, didn't something similar happen to Sana-unnie too?"

Tzuyu and Momo tried to remember.
