Chapter 5 Disappearance

Sana collapsed down shaking uncontrollably.

"Sana! What happened?!", The girls came rushing back.

"It's a trap..", she whispered. 

"Sorry?"

"It's a trap!", she practically yelled with her hands on her head.  

"What is?", the members asked in confusion as they picked her up. 

"The diaries have been hinting to us this whole time! I should've known!"

"What the hell are you saying?! Please explain!", Momo demanded.

"The ritual! The diary has been warning us not to do it!", Sana pulled out Lucy's diary, flipped to the page and showed the members.

"'It's... a trap'?", Tzuyu hesitantly read aloud the dark red words.  

"Yes! Lucy must've been trying to tell us not to do the ritual because something bad will happen!"

"But Adam told us to finish the ritual if he failed!", Momo responded with a frightened look on her face. 

"But what if he didn't fail? What if he already completed it but something happened to him? It's very strange that we haven't even seen Esther this whole time", Sana flipped to the page that was signed by Annie. "And look! Don't you find it weird that Annie was talking about sealing herself as well?"

"Yes, but wouldn't that mean that she has already sealed herself? Annie might've been another one those experimental subjects just like Esther. And she probably managed to seal herself before she was overcome by the ritual", Tzuyu explained.

Sana took some time to rethink about the situation. 

"Maybe you're right about that. But something still doesn't sit right with me..." 

"What do you mean?", Tzuyu questioned.

"We were the first to find Adam's diary. He was the one who created the ritual circle. So how did Annie manage to seal herself if she didn't know what to do or where the circle was? And if the ritual was already done on Esther, wouldn't that mean that Annie would've needed to create a brand new circle? She wouldn't have been able to replicate it at her young age!". 

The 3 members looked at each other before looking back at Sana. The more they thought about it, the more the situation messed with their minds. 

"So do you think that Annie must've been lying about sealing herself up?", Chaeyoung asked.

"But why would she lie?", Momo was puzzled. "She's just a kid." 

"Or maybe she didn't and this has nothing to do with her. There could be a chance that either Adam or Lucy is lying about this situation and everything related to the ritual.", Sana added. The members began throwing in all sorts of theories they could come up with. 

"Girls, I think we should discuss this with the group later. Right now we have to warn the others about this!", Tzuyu interrupted. 

"So who wants to do the honors?", Jeongyeon offered the chalk.

"Absolutely not.", Nayeon rejected and backed away.

Jeongyeon looked at the other 3 members and none of them took the offer.

"Ugh, fine!". Jeongyeon got down and began tracing the outline of the ritual circle. The old flickering lights made it difficult to see the faded chalk that was once there.
