53- End All Sufferings

"Laura, look we need your help quick." Zack had called with her on speaker phone, "It's Nova, something seriously is wrong with her." He then explained everything that just happened.

"Oh my God?!" She exclaimed. "I knew she was upset about everything but not that bad. I don't know where she could have went. Fuck, she mentioned her mom and Jimmy, check the graveyard!"

"I know but it's happened. Now she feels like she has no one Laura. We are the only thing she has left in her life. She has no other friends." Zack sighed.

"We didn't mean to make it seem like we cut her out of our lives." Laura sighed.

"What do you mean, cut her out? What did you guys do or didn't do?" Matt asked.

"We uh, we haven't been inviting her to join us. Or to any get togethers where Zack and Meghan would be. Like we told her we didn't want her nor Zack to feel awkward and be forced to be in the same room. With having a bad break up and all."

"Are you shitting me right now?! No wonder she feels alone because she is. Fuck." Matt smacked his palm on the steering wheel. "I didn't know you guys were doing that to her. That's fucked up, immature highschool drama." Matt groaned, "Just because her and Zack broke up doesn't mean you girls have to stop being her friend. I mean that's when she needs her girlfriends the most."

"I know okay?! I fucking know and I feel bad! I'm possibly losing one of my best friends and it's my fault!" Laura cried. "Please find her."

"We're trying." Zack sighed then pointed, "There's the graveyard."

Mat quickly parked and they jumped out.

"We'll let you know what's going on." Before waiting for an answer Zack hung up and shoved his phone into his pocket.

"Nova?!" Matt called out as they started to walked around.

"Wait, this is a big graveyard, wouldn't it be quicker to stay in your car and drive around?"

"Good idea." Matt nodded and they jumped back in the he started driving, "So Nova's maiden last name was Benson right? So that means her mom's last could have been the same? I don't know if her parents were ever married."

"Yeah I don't know." Zack said lowly.

"Well try the B area, these go by last name I think. At least with Jimmy, he was in an area with the other S last names." Matt stated as Zack just nodded staring out the window.

"There! Oh fuck! Matt stop!" He pointed to someone leaning against the end of one of the headstones.

Zack jumped out before Matt got the car fully stopped but luckily didn't loose his footing.

"Nova!" Zack called out.

"Please go away. I'm done having you guys feel sorry for me." She said with the gun still in her hand.

"No, That's not why we're here. Come on Nova, please don't do this sweetheart." Matt said as he slowly walked to her, "Despite what you may think, we do still care about you."

"No." She shook her head, "No, no one cares about me. If you guys did you wouldn't have ignored me. Your wives wouldn't have ignored me and that's okay, I'm no one." She said as she put the gun to her temple, "You don't have to worry anymore. Not like you guys did for a while now anyways. I'm going to join the people who love me. At least they won't betray me there."

Matt acted quickly started trying to get the gun away from her.

"No! Stop! Let me do this!"

"No I'm not going to! Give me the damn gun Nova! Please!"

Just then there was a loud bang and all three of their eyes went wide.

"Oh my God! No!" Zack yelled as he rushed to them.

"I'm sorry Matt. I'm so sorry." Nova coughed out.

"Nova, what did you do?! Fuck, Matt?! Matt fucking answer me man!" Zack choked out putting his hand on Matt's shoulder.

Matt finally regained his composer, and cleared his throat then pulled her away slightly. "I'm okay man. Fuck Nova?! Stay with us sweetie!"

The vibration and the sound of the gun going off had knocked the wind out of him some and made his ears ring slightly.

As he laid her on the ground and started putting pressure on the wound as it had went into her chest.

"Fuck man! Call an ambulance don't just stand there damnit!" Matt roared.

Zack came to his senses as he nodded and he sniffled then pulled out his phone quickly to call 9-1-1.

"I'm sorry you had to witness this." Nova choked out. "I never meant for that."

"Hey shh no, save your breath sis." Matt kissed her forehead.

"Don't cry, I'm going to a better place. I'll tell Jimmy hello for you."

"No, don't talk like that, stay with us." Zack shook his head.

On their way to the hospital they let Laura know they found her and where she was being rushed to.

"Oh my God Matt! What happened?" Val rushed over to him.

"Don't worry, it's not mine. It's Nova's." He choked out wiping his hands down his face to try to clear his red eyes.

Val gasped, "What happened? Is she okay?"

"We're what happened! You girls are what happened to her! She needed a friend and she had no one Valary." He groaned as he threw his hands out. "Why? Huh? Why the times we all got together, I asked about her not showing up and you girls said she didn't come because of it being awkward. You made it sound like she chose not to come when all along you girls didn't even invite her." It was clear he was angry everything had to come to this.

"I'm sorry okay? Yeah we didn't because her and Zack broke up and none of us thought she'd want to be in the same room as him and Meghan."

"That shouldn't matter Val. We're supposed to be her friends, long before her and Zack even got married. Before Meghan even came into the picture. She shot herself Val, she fucking shot herself. And Zack and me witnessed it damnit. I was holding her, trying to get the gun, trying to stop her and I failed. We all failed her as her friends, as her family. The only people she had left in her life failed her." He said through his tears.

"Baby, shit, I'm so sorry." She quickly pulled him into a hug. He wrapped his arms around her tightly, laying his head on her shoulder.

Pretty soon a doctor came in to tell them that unfortunately Nova didn't make it since the bullet hit so close to her heart and from her blood loss.
