As another act came on I noticed the red glowing something to my left. I didn’t go over and see what it was as Mr. Tall approached my seat. He gestured for me to follow him out. I wanted to watch the rest of the show, but I got up once more and followed him out.

I stepped out of the tent. The stars and moon give a slight light to see by. Larten, and Vancha stood out there waiting. I walked over and Larten hugged me, he let out a sigh and kissed the top of my head.

“I am glad you’re alright.” he says.

“I’ve never been scared of an arachnid till today” I joke, as he lets me go.

“You want to tell her or should I?” Vancha questions.

  “Tell me what?”

“Mr. Tiny talked with Vancha.” Larten starts, “we only had three chances to kill the vampaneze lord. As I have been informed, we lost two of those chances meaning…..”

“There’s only one chance left.” I say “I think when I saw him that was one of the times… but I can’t think of what the other would be…”

I glanced around to see Mr. Tall wasn’t there. I get the paper out of my pocket. It has two things scrawled out. I read it aloud.

  “Harkat Mulds”

Larten and Vancha look at me confused. “What’s that, a name or something?” Vancha asks.

I nod, “it is but, Harkat wouldn’t exist in this timeline because I convinced Kurda not to….”

All it once, it clicked like a finger snapping me into the knowledge I needed. I let out a huff of air. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes.

“I stopped Kurda from bringing vampaneze into Vampire Mountain. That was the first chance we had.”

“Kurda was going to do what now?” Vancha mutters.

“You did the right thing.” Larten says, “as for the other time, I understand that you were not ready. However if we only have one chance left we have to take it.”

“Are we not going to talk about how Kurda was going to bring vampaneze into Vampire Mountain?”

“Larten, we also need to talk about….. The other thing.” I touch my stomach “and what we’re going to do about it.”

“Other….. Oh! You mean the fact you are pregnant with my child?”

“She’s what?!” Vancha chokes on air and his voice comes out strained “How? That’s impossible.”

“Y…yeah…. So long story short I challenged Mr. Tiny and he made it so I can get pregnant and then….. Well I’m sure you know how babies are made.”

Vancha blinks, confusion still swam in his gaze, “A…am I dreaming, or high? None of this makes any sense what-so-ever”

Larten gives him a light pat on the back, “We will focus on one thing at a time.”

“Right now we need to focus on finding the vampaneze lord. Larten and I can focus on the other thing.” I say “I wish we had some sort of clue as to where he was.”

I looked at the paper still in my hand, hoping to see something. It remained blank. I sigh and place the paper in my pocket.

“We might have to leave the Cirque for a while.” Larten says

  “What about Octa?” I ask.

“I will ask Truska or Mr.Tall to take care of him while we’re gone,” he states.

“Where would we go though?” Vancha voiced “we don’t know where he’d even be.”

There was a silence that held over us for a moment as we thought it over. Then an image popped into my head. A place I hadn’t been in years. It was a stretch for sure, but it was worth a shot.

“I think I know where to look, but we have to go somewhere I swore I’d never go back to.”

  “Where is that?” Larten asks.

  I sigh, “Brehnam, Texas.”

“It’s a start,” Vancha says, “I might check around the area first for any vampaneze still hanging around here.”

Vancha flits away. Larten walks over to me and rests his hand around my waist. It’s quiet for a moment before he lets out a breath.

"Do you want to talk about it now?" He asks.

"We have to talk about it eventually." I sigh "no time like the present."

He moves his hand into mine and we move further away from the cirque. We get to a clearing not too far away. He lets go of my hand and steps in front of me.

"There is no rush to make any decisions, and no matter what you choose to do…." he rests his hand, cupping my cheek, "I will be with you every step of the way."

"I'm… not ready to….. raise a child." I say "plus I don't even know what a vampire and human would make. Would it be half vampire? Would it be all human? Like…"

"Would you be okay with us making a stop before we head to Brehnam?"  He asks "I think I might know someone who can help us out."

I nod. I look over hearing a crunch of leaves. Vancha walks over.

"I was wondering where you two went off to." He smiles.

"We just needed a moment alone."

"Did you see any vampaneze?" I ask.

"No," Vancha shakes his head "if there were any then they were extremely well hidden."

"We need to make a stop before we go to Brehnam." Larten tells him.

"Where are we headed?" he asks.

"To Lady Evanna's " he replies.
