"Come on! Let's turn on the radio! Have a karaoke night!" Steve said. Everyone looked at him like he was crazy.
"Well I'm not singing." Eddie said. "You can but I'm not." Nearly everyone agreed, except Robin, who smiled wide.
"Well I want to sing." Steve said and turned on the radio. Voulez-Vous started playing after some minutes of a guy talking. Steve jumped onto the table, grabbed a pen by his feet and started singing loudly and dancing dramatically.
"Are you okay? Have you been drinking? Taken drugs? Smoked something? Eaten something weird?" Nancy asked in a joking manner.
The truth is. Steve started to fall back into his old, loud and funny self. Him as a teenager, who would dance on tables, start food fights, sing at the top of his lungs or flirt with anyone and everyone he meet.
It scared him, his old self wasn't very liked by most people. He was annoying. What would happen if he went back to that? He didn't have Scott here to stop him from doing dump stuff. Or Lydia sighing and rolling her eyes. Or Derek who threaten him into silence. Or Issac who who would sing with him.
Eddie couldn't keep his eyes of Steve, who was singing songs he hade never even heard before. Knowing every lyric of every song that played on the radio.
He was jumping and laughing and dancing. Eddie hade never seen him so happy before.
The show went on for hours until Steve fell down on the couch, exhausted.
"Haven't done that in years." He laughs.
"You use to do that regularly?" Eddie asked, trying to ignore the fact that Steve was laying on his arm.
"Once a week. We use to have karaoke nights every Saturday. We would fall asleep in a big pile on the floor."
"Sounds sweet." Eddie said, curling a strand of Steve's hair around his finger. Steve hummed and it only took him some minutes to fall asleep, on Eddies arm.
There's something that's not right. How did he go from loud and sweet to a school jock in just a year? Why isn't he with his old friends anymore? Did something happen? He did go quiet when we tried to talk about that girls dad, Argent. I'll have to ask Will about it. It feels like there's more here that Steve let's on.
Eddie fell asleep just some minutes after Steve. But he wouldn't sleep if he knew what hade happened and why Steve was actually in Hawkins to begin with.
And that his name wasn't even Steve.
