CHAPTER THIRTY FIVE
✧.*I'LL ALWAYS
COME AND GET YOU✧.*Sitting on a random curb, a thin material covering their exposed bodies, barefooted, and Taylor listing off every way she was gonna kill those girls.
Juliette dropped her head, praying that Jeremiah would put speed on it, shivering slightly at the cold weather.
She lifted her head at the sight of Jeremiah's bright colored Jeep, Conrad's smaller car parking opposite of his, both brothers frantically exiting the vehicles.
"Oh, my God, Julie, are you okay?" Jeremiah hurried over, running his eyes over her confused expression.
She nodded, flicking her eyes over at Conrad, "Yeah. What are you doing here?"
"Nicole... she told me about, um..." He trailed off, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.
Taylor scoffed loudly, narrowing her eyes at the brunette boy, "I hope you told her to watch her back."
The boys held up the larger blanket-like material as the girls got dressed, Juliette's cheeks tinted with red as she slipped the sweater over her head.
She gulped, turning to her friends after they'd got dressed, "Are you cool if I go with Jeremiah?"
They both nodded quickly, fully on board with it. Belly nudged her shoulder, "Oh, my God, are you kidding me? Yes. Thousand percent yes."
Juliette flashed the girls a smile, trailing behind Jeremiah as the two got into Conrad's car.
She helped herself into the bulky truck, shutting the door softly as Jeremiah hopped into the drivers seat, the engine rumbling.
Jeremiah breathed out softly, turning towards the blonde slightly, "So I heard Conrad may be taking you to the ball."
Juliette glanced down at her hands, rolling her lips into her mouth, "Who told you that?"
"My mom." He said blandly.
"Well, he's not." Juliette insisted, looking at his side profile as he drove, his jaw clenched, "I still don't have a date. Can you pull over?"
Jeremiah furrowed his brows, glancing at her, "Yeah."
The car came to a stop, Jeremiah shutting the engine off as he faced her with concern.
"Thank you for coming to get me." Juliette smiled softly, feeling her heart rate pick up as he stared at her with intensity.
"Julie, I'll always come and get you." Jeremiah licked his lips, his bright teeth showing.
Juliette glanced down, her lisp parting, "Can you hear that?"
"Hear what?" He tilted his head.
"My heart's pounding." She chuckled, leading his hand to touch her bare skin, holding back a breathe at the touch.
He lifted his head, flicking his glossy eyes between hers, he could see her hesitation, but God, he wanted to give in, her shaky hand laying overtop his, staring at him innocently.
She reached for him, colliding their lips. In that moment, she wished that Conrad would drive past, seeing her tangled up with this own brother. She couldn't help it.
They pulled back after a few minutes, Jeremiah catching his breathe, a smirk on his lips as he put the car into drive, Juliette laying her head against the seat as she slumped in it.
"So?" Jeremiah trailed off, glancing at her side profike as he drove down the empty streets of Cousins beach.
She bit her bottom lip, sitting up, ignoring the seatbelt digging into her skin, "Will you go to the deb ball with me?"
He gripped the steering wheel, his eyes going wide at her question, suddenly, the amount of swearing he did of balls slipped his mind, and there he was seemingly nodding into agreement because he couldn't resist her.
Juliette chuckled softly, pecking his lips one last time before she got out of the car, the sweet vanilla scent hitting her nose as she entered the Fishers home.
She hurried up the steps, Belly and Taylor already tucked into bed, eyes shut, she slipped into her bedroom, the feeling of adrenaline running through her, she laid down, wrapping herself up in the thin floral sheets.
Her eyes fluttered shut, her body falling into a nights rest for only thirty minutes, her phone buzzing had her waking up, rubbing her face.
She reached for the shell shaped lamp, flicking it on as she flipped her phone around, she bit her bottom lip with a head shake before scurrying out of bed.
With her beat up loafers on, she crept out of the back door, tucking her hair behind her ear as she stumbled into the dock, Conrad's eyes lingering on her.
She faced him, crossing her arms, "Stop texting me. It's triggering. Bad things happen when you text me."
"I know. I know. I'm sorry." Conrad apologized, the look of defeat taking over his fragile features, Juliette nearly felt bad for him, "I feel like I keep doing the wrong thing when it comes to you. This is yours."
Her eyes darted down to the velvet box she had found in his junk draw a couple weeks back, she swallowed, talking it from his hand, flipping it open to make sure this wasn't just a dream.
Juliette brushed her fingertips over the delicate silver jewelry, running her pointer finger over the infinity pendant.
"Uh, you don't have to keep it or... anything. You could throw it in the ocean, burn it. I...I just." Conrad stuttered, flicking his eyes between the old wooden deck floor, her hands holding the box, and her dark tired eyes.
"What?" She asked, her voice just above a whisper
Conrad rolled his lips into his mouth, finally letting their eyes lock, "I just...don't wanna loose you."
For years, days, months, practically all of eternity, she let herself run wild for Conrad Fisher, throwing away all means of future relationships because they weren't him, looking down at the necklace, she felt that familiar feeling of defeat.
She reached for him, cupping his hands, feeling the delicate piece of jewelry leave her palm and fall to his, closing his hand to keep it in his hold, she looked up towards him.
Fighting her own tears by looking into his glossy eyes, she smiled gently, "It's too late."
