"there hasn't been a fallen other than you so far. at least that's what i know." renjun spoke to the fallen in a soft mumbly voice as they went back go jaemin's home as four.

"someone must've used a disguise to hide themselves in the mortal world. how brave." donghyuck continued, gripping mark's wrist tightly in his palm.

"whatever it is, we should just go home first. us immortals need to rest too, you know?"

"... you're right, jaem. let's go."

"mark, you can sleep in the extra room downstairs. it's a bit creepy but i know you're not a scardey cat." the youngest devil gave mark a wink which the mortal giggled to.

"i'll walk him to bed."

"it's okay renjun, i-"

"no more talking, let's just go, mortal." the said devil rolled his eyes before pushing mark by his back and leading the way to the promised room.

"you said you weren't scared, why are you trembling?"

"i'm not."

"sure." renjun took mark's hand into his and placed it in front of his eyes.
"still wanna lie?"

"okay fine. but that doesn't mean that the room is scary, right?" a light scoff elicited from renjun's mouth before they stopped in front of a dark brown door made out of wood and carved beautifully. the handles were skull-shaped, giving the feeling of evilness and threat, but that wasn't what mark was paying attention to as the doors opened.

"it's not scary, at least for me."

the room was well lit by the flame from the fireplace and the red lanterns placed around the room itself.

the walls were like black coal with a rocky texture and paintings of skull surrounded by flame were all over the room. a pretty medium sized lanter with yellow dim lights hung from the ceiling, making the room a little less scarier and more fancy.

overall the room was like jaemin's, just a little abandoned and scarier. but mark could work with it.

"need anything else? my eyes are heavy as fuck." the devil yawned, showing a cute side that he often hides from all people. mark smiled and shook his head.

"no, this is okay."

"great. i'm dreading to go to bed." with that, renjun exited the room and closed the big door that echoed throughout the long hallway.

mark turned to the bed that had red silk sheets with golden rims around the pillow case. he exhaled, approaching the fancy looking bed and plopped his body on it. he went under the covers and instantly fell into dreamland.

until he heard a knock on the door.

"who's there?" he lazily spoke as he groaned in annoyance when no reply was heard. he stepped out of bed, feet coming in contact with the cold marble floor that gave him the shivers.
"gosh."

mark approached the door while rubbing his eyes, already feeling the sleepiness in him taking over. though so, he was curious to know who was knocking at the door just as renjun left.

but as he opened the door, he saw no one.

he saw nothing but the rock wall of the hallway and the fire torches lighting the way faintly. not a soul could be spotted, even inmortals'.

"weird." he said with a breathy scoff, though inside he was near to frightened.

mark walked his way back to the bed and once again flopped his body in it, immediately falling back to sleep.

but another knock was heard a few minutes after. this time, mark woke up immediately, feeling a little scared as he remembered what happened earlier.

he stood up again and approached the door. a feel of deja vu rushed over him as he opened the door only to be met by an empty hallways.

mark shut the door quickly and jumped onto the bed, pulling the sheets over to cover his body to the chin.

he was scared, and he rarely got scared because of such things.

"fucking hell." he cussed quietly to himself.

now inside his head was nothing but fear. he couldn't think straight. but one person made his way into his thoughts.

"donghyuck..." the mortal mumbled to himself, "i'm scared."

and as if it were teleportation that the fallen did, the door to the darkened room in the middle of the night opened in a flash, revealing donghyuck with a hidden worried expression plastered on his face.

"mark?" the immortal spoke while approaching the called boy on the bed.
"why did you keep shouting my name? i was about to sleep."

"what?"

"you shouted my name like a few times." donghyuck rolled his eyes.

"n-no i didn't..." mark's slightly trembly voice got donghyuck's attention, making the fallen's worry grow gradually.

"are you..."

"i'm okay." despite his words, mark can't seem to hide his scared face when tugging the sheets higher to his nose. and donghyuck caught this, sighing at his weakness.

"you're not." he said monotonously.
"either you tell me what's wrong, or i'm leaving."

mark stayed silent, not wanting to bother the latter's sleep. but the mortal can't seem to sit still because he knew that if he didn't speak, he'd be stuck in that room with endless knocking from no one.

"someone keeps knocking the door." he started, "it's only twice, but no one's there when i opened it."

donghyuck wanted to let out a snicker but mark looked serious enough to stop him from doing so. mark almost looked... cute.

"i know that you think i'm joking, but i'm serious, donghyuck. it's... eerie." mark continued, letting donghyuck avert all his attention to him.

"wanna stay in my room?" the ravenette spoke suddenly.

"h-huh?"

"my room. rather than you lurking around here with some creature trying to knock-ditch you every 5 minutes, i guess you can stay there till tomorrow." mark was shocked. the cold and annoying donghyuck he always faced was suddenly kind. should he be thankful? or should he be weirded out because of the immortal's unusual behaviour?

"i guess it's okay..."

"ugh great, i don't want to deal with you calling me again." donghyuck rolled his eyes, showing his devil side, the side mark favoured least from the fallen.

"i didn't even call you..."

"whatever."

and with that, mark rose up from his bed, following donghyuck behind him, tailing.

as they arrived, mark noticed that donghyuck's room was a little brighter than he had expected - him thinking that for a dark creature like donghyuck, he would have a much similar rom to jaemin's.

"you can sleep there. i'll sleep on the couch."

"oh, but i was..."

"no buts, just do it mark." the fallen exhaled harshly before walking up to the velvet couch a few inches from the bed and laid himself down on it.
"stop staring, will you?"

"oh- sorry."

"sleep, we'll figure the other things out tomorrow." mark nodded even if he knew the near-to-sleeping donghyuck didn't see him as his eyes were closed.

the human approached the bed and climbed on it, slowly laying down as to not disturb the latter who was probably asleep by now.

"good night." he said to the fallen, grasping to the sheet tightly for protection.
