"jaehyun sir-"
"no, donghyuck. just jaehyun." the leader said with a small evil smile. donghyuck nodded and continued.
"jaehyun, i need help with a mortal who happen to have a connection with an immortal and is chased by an evil spirit." donghyuck expected something else other than a scoff and a loud laugh that echoed throughout. his eyebrows knit as jaehyun just continued laughing like it was some good joke.
"i-"
"that mortal? mark lee? oh gosh, why is this so funny?" he spoke as he kept laughing his ass off. donghyuck hated it. he didn't know why he was so annoyed with that laugh of his.
"this is serious, jaehyun. he's in danger."
"oh what you don't know, donghyuck." the fallen's eyes knitted in confusion at the elder's words.
"that mortal has been on the verge of tearing my humane side away every. single. day."-
"and the winner of the golden medal robotics competition for neo middle school is..." jaehyun stood there, anticipating for his name to be stated. but it never came.
"mark lee!"it was yet again his best friend.
"mark! congratualations!" everyone crowded around him and carried him up to toss him in the air, with the boy giggling happily. jaehyun couldn't help but dash out the door in anger. he had worked hard, but it didn't seem to pay off.
it happened again next few years.
"the winner of the math olympiad internstional highschool field is..." again, the brunette had his hands connected, eyes closed as he held his hopes high.
"mark lee!"his heart dropped once again. even after a few years, the feeling of disappointment and anger creeped up his body. he hated it. he hated how mark always beat him in everything.
in school, in competitions, even in big games during school events. he knew it was useless, but since they were little, everything seemed to always like mark in a way that he thought he should deserve it.
he came to despise mark secretly.
jaehyun's hate grew even more when he knew mark had a big scholarship ahead of him while his grades were on the borderline. even if he got accepted, he knew his parents were not as proud. he knew his parents always told him to be like mark. every single day.
that was why he decided to just escape earth and just fulfill his duties as the leader in the under. in hell.
taeyong wasn't your normal and average friendly guy either. he was jaehyun's lover.
and since then, jaehyun never regretted leaving his mortality aside. because like this, he wouldn't have to worry about mark beating him. anyone in their own realm would feel and be more powerful.
as jaehyun is.

"what do you..."
"don't you get it yet? i'm the one who cast that evil spirit for that poor, clueless mortal you came to love so much as you spend more and more time with him." a small faint gasp escaped donghyuck's lips as he heard so. how could he not get it by now? not all devils are powerful enough to cast evil spirits, especially not one like jaemin or renjun, even if they're more powerful than him.
"w-what?"
"you're so naive, donghyuck. yes, you two may be soulmates. but you seem... what's the word... stubborn and doubtful, to be close to him." jaehyun stood up from his seat and called a helper to take his cup of drink away, fixing his black and red robe and slicked his hair back. he walked towards the fallen angel who stood his ground.
"you want to help this soulmate mortal of yours?""if you'll allow me." the younger said in a cold manner.
"oh i'll allow you for sure, donghyuck. after all, you still have angel blood running down your veins." the devil chuckled dreadfully and added,
"and, you know the price of asking a request from me."he did. he knew he had to receive the payment he always deserved, especially if it's to save mark. he'd do it.
"i know." the short reply had jaehyun smiling like a crazy person.
"a wise choice. wise choice indeed, donghyuck."
the devil placed a hand on donghyuck's cheeks, almost feather like, but filled with so much wrath.
"just speak out your punishment, devil. i'll accept it."
"gladly, donghyuck." jaehyun walked a few steps away from the latter as he had fixed his robe once more. he turned back to donghyuck with the most evil pair of eyes he had ever seen. a real devil's eyes.
"your punishment is as simple as a flick or a snap of a finger, handsome. you, fallen, will be banished from both mortal and immortal worlds forever. and this mortal of yours will be free, but will have his memories of you wiped forever."when jaehyun said so, donghyuck felt his body being pulled up in the air. the pain was excruciating, but he didn't even feel a thing that pained him.
his mind suddenly traveled to the mortal who was peacefully eating his dinner. he could see him. he could see mark in his vision.
i'm sorry, mark.
and that was the last thing he thought and saw of before his figure disappeared into thin air. and all that's left was smoke floating in the air.
then suddenly all hell stopped.
the evil spirits were no longer existent in mark's life.
and so is donghyuck.
