One at a time, they went into the single-person all-gender washroom and did their business and freshened up for the day. It's not like they had combs or toothbrushes so Sirius tried his best to fix his mess of hair using just the cold sink water, which didn't work to the best of his abilities.

He ended up taking way too long in there but finally, once he got out of there, he turned to walk around the corner separating the washroom from the rest of the cafe, when he ran into somebody.

A loud bang rang through the cafe, startling those around. Any muggle-born or half-bloods who were raised around a muggle lifestyle immediately recognized the sound as one of a gunshot, but for those not raised around muggle inventions, it sounded like a spell cast incorrectly.

No one really knew what was going on until there was a high-pitched scream from around the corner followed by the sound of a body hitting the floor.

Parents were rushing their kids out of the cafe while others held their wands in front of them in case it was an attack.

Wands ready, two men slowly turned the corner, looking for the cause of the disruption, only to find the bloody body of a teenage boy.

Neither Remus, Regulus, nor James could manage to get close to the scene, people were blocking them from all angles. Sirius had been the only one in the washroom, there was only one washroom and it was a single-person washroom, so unless anyone else was standing behind the corner, knowing their luck, it was Sirius.

Some lady from the cafe pushed her way to the front, claiming she was a med-witch.

People were chattering all around them and were speaking way too loud for any of the three teens to be able to hear anything that was going on, but soon, more med-witches had arrived - someone must have called them, and they began ushering people away from the body, kicking everyone out of the cafe so they could take the body to St Mungos where they could hopefully save a life.

Once most people had managed to leave the cafe, they could see the body which had been moved from around the corner to give them more space, it was Sirius, but he was covered in a lot of blood, the source seemed to have been a large gash on his shoulder.

A man wearing a St Mungo's uniform tried to direct the three boys out of the cafe but they wouldn't budge.

"That's my brother!" Regulus shouted at the man, he wasn't leaving.

"You three know this boy?" He asked. They nodded in response. "He's being transported to St Mungo's, you may join us and wait in the waiting room, where you may be asked a few questions," He stated, before turning to where his colleagues were beginning to aparate away, a group of med-witches taking Sirius with them.

The three teens were transported to St Mungo's with the male doctor, before being told to wait in the waiting room.

They didn't get told anything about his condition for hours, truthfully, neither Regulus nor James really understood what happened, they figured that it was a spell that had hit Sirius, possibly killing him, but Remus recognized the noise, maybe he'd never heard it in real life, but he remembered watching videos growing up and he remembered the way the sound of the gunshot rang through the screen, just like it rang through the cafe, only louder.

It was rare that any type of muggle device-related injuries were brought into St. Mungo's, most of the med-witches had never dealt with such a thing before, so it was only with luck to have a muggle-born med-witch dealing with Sirius that day. The nurse had attended med school in both the wizarding world and muggle world, although she was more focused on wizarding medical care.

Remus was pacing back and forth in the waiting room while they waited for a doctor to come back and speak with them. Regulus was sitting in his seat, staring at the wall where there was a poster stuck on the wall stating things such as; "Good nutrients make a difference", "What can good nutrients do for you?" and "Questions you should ask your doctor before surgery". The poster, was angering just to look at, not that it was doing anything wrong placed on the wall, but whoever chooses what posters to place in medical buildings needed to be replaced seriously.

James sat with his legs thrown over the arm of the chair, sitting sideways as they waited in the quiet waiting room. There were three others in the waiting room with them who seemed to be minding their own business. The only sounds around were the sounds of nurses and doctors walking the halls, some pushing medical beds while others were too busy sorting through files as they walked.

"Are they even doing their work? Maybe someone should go check," James said, sitting up properly after the at least twentieth doctor walked past the waiting room, not saying a word.

"If you go and bother them, they'll certainly not be working," Remus said, sighing.

It took another two hours before a doctor came up to them, asking if they were the family of Sirius, they must have found his name out by performing a spell, said spell didn't reveal his biological last name because he was disowned. They all shot up in relief that someone was finally going to hopefully give them some details.

"Yes," Regulus replied, not mentioning the two boys with no relation to him.

"Perfect, how old are you?" He asked the group. The man looked young to be in a hospital, based on his composure, it wasn't hard to conclude he was new.

"Eighteen," Remus lied.

"Eighteen," James also lied.

"Seventeen," Regulus stated. It was best to keep the lies somewhat true, this way he was still one year younger than the two Gryffindors.

"Alright, what's the exact relation?" He proceeded to ask.

"Brother," Regulus immediately answered.

James followed by saying "Brother."

And then Remus responded, "Cousin."

The doctor seemed to be writing down their answers quickly.

"And can I have your names?" He asked finally.

"Regulus, no last name," He responded. Even if Sirius was disowned, the hospital would try and contact their parents if he revealed his last name, so he kept it hidden.

James and Remus followed up with their first names, and the man took note of it.

"Alright, if you three would follow me around the corner, I have a few things I'd like to discuss," The doctor said, before leading them out of the waiting room.

"Alright," He said, looking down at his clipboard. "I'm Dr. Reinstein, I'm also your brother, and cousin's doctor."

"Is he going to be okay or not? You people have left us on edge for the past five hours, stop stalling," Regulus spat out.

"Apologies, I understand if it's a stressful time," He said at an annoyingly slow pace. "Sirius was shot with a muggle gun and experienced trauma to the upper right shoulder," He gave the trio a sincere look.

"How bad was it?" asked Remus.

"He's been in surgery for the past five hours, they're trying their best to safely deal with the wound without causing any further damage. There's a four in five chance of survival for this type of gunshot wound, but that's still a one in five chance of something going wrong," He paused to let the information sink in. "The problem with the placement of the wound is that it can cause internal bleeding which could then bleed into the lungs, possibly killing him, but so far, the internal bleeding has been under control," He finished.

"How much longer will he be in surgery?" Regulus asked in a weak voice.

"I can't give you a proper answer for that, but as long as things continue the way they've been going, he should be out by the end of the hour," He explained before answering a few more questions and walking back to the hospital desk where he put down his files.
