"Okay," Remus agreed with a sigh, "So what are we going to do instead?"
"I... I don't know," James mumbled.
"Well, it's your call so you better come up with something or I'll call the Aurors myself,"
James looked to his friends for help.
"We could bury her," Peter quietly offered. He wasn't sure how much James would like the idea but they couldn't let the dead body lay on the floor forever, it was a health concern.
"Where? The ground's frozen," Regulus reminded the other.
"Doesn't this house have a basement or something? Can't we put her down there?" Sirius questioned.
"Sirius, they don't have dungeons in their manor like us," Regulus reminded his brother.
"Right," The others looked at the brothers concerned, apparently it wasn't normal to have dungeons in your house. It was probably strange that Walburga and Orion also slept in the basement, just past the dungeons.
Remus thought for a moment before offering his idea. "We could burn it,"
"No, absolutely not!" James disagreed with his idea.
"James, we have to do something, the body will start to decompose by the 24-78 hour point," He pointed out. "Not to mention that things smell when they decompose," He added.
"Why don't we just leave it here for now and come back in an hour or two, no one here is thinking straight," Regulus stated.
"I'm never thinking straight, but yeah, what Regulus said," Sirius chimed in.
Remus rolled his eyes at his boyfriend but agreed with what Regulus said, they had other things to be worrying about at that moment, like the fact that whoever killed Fleamont and Euphemia were still in the house. Peter was quick to agree as well, and James also reluctantly agreed, his mind was probably skewed.
The house was quiet, it was probably just as quiet as it always was but it felt much more empty.
They went to the library to get further away from the conservatory.
"Shouldn't at least one of us get our wand?" Regulus questioned, they should be smart here."Right, yeah... I can go get my wand, it's at the bottom of the stairs," Remus offered. They then decided that James would go get his invisibility cloak, which was in his bag, which he'd also left at the bottom of the stairs. By the time they had decided this, Remus had already left for downstairs so James ran to catch up.
Regulus, Peter and Sirius stayed in the library waiting. The Potter manor library was nothing nearly as impressive as the Black manor library, first off, it was only one story, so no spiral staircase, and second, there weren't nearly as many books. There were still a lot of books, bookshelves covered the walls from top to bottom all around the room and there were a couple of couches in the center.
The Potter manor library was on the second story and on the opposite side of the house than the staircase so it wasn't surprising when Remus nor James were back by the ten-minute mark, but once it hit twenty minutes, eventually thirty minutes and so on, it was worrying. The house wasn't nearly that large and there weren't too many twists and turns.
"Maybe we should check on them," Sirius spoke up.
"They probably just got distracted..." Regulus said, trying to reassure them, or many himself, but it didn't work, "We should go find them," He sighed.
"Should one of us stay here just in case?" Asked Peter.
They had to think about it for a minute. Splitting up is never a good thing, they knew that but if they took a detour and were on their way back, they might miss them, it was still a large enough manor that it was likely to happen.
Eventually, they decided that Peter would stay in the library while Sirius and Regulus went to find Remus and James.
They walked side by side down the halls until they reached the stairs. Descending the stairs, neither Remus nor James were to be seen.
"The fuck?" Sirius swore. They didn't pass them, did they really return to the library while they went to find them?
"Maybe they left something in one of their rooms," Regulus suggested.
"MOONY," Sirius screamed at the top of his lungs, "PRONGS!" He was probably loud enough that Peter could hear them from the Library.
"I'll go check their rooms," Regulus offered. With that, he left Sirius who ran off to search the downstairs while Regulus jogged back up the stairs and barged straight into James' room, running directly into James, falling backwards in the process.
"Where the fuck have you been?" Regulus exclaimed in relief, but he did notice that Remus wasn't there.
"I couldn't find my invisibility cloak, I thought I had left it in here so I went back for it," He shrugged.
"Well it took you long enough," Regulus scoffed. It was an hour since they'd first split apart.
"Sorry, but I had to pack up my whole room within half an hour and it turns out I forgot to pack up my entire closet, and I ended up getting distracted and forgetting about my invisibility cloak..." He sheepishly held it up, "Which so happened to have been left in my back pocket..."
Regulus gave the older boy a sharp glare before loosening up. "Where's Remus?" He asked
"Moony? I haven't seen him, I tried to catch up with him when we left the library but he must have taken a different turn, I figured he was back with you," James shrugged before his face paled. "Is he not?"
"No, you've both been missing," Regulus deadpanned. "Let's check his room, Sirius is searching for you two downstairs, we'll then go find him," Regulus decided.
"Right," James nodded, his breath felt heavy and he could feel his head spinning, this was a nightmare.
Remus' room was just down the hall and around the corner, his room was just as empty and tidy as when he had arrived. There was no sign that anyone had been staying in the room for the past few days.
Downstairs, Sirius had no luck. He still couldn't find his boyfriend or best friend and now he was all alone. He had searched each room except the dining room and he hadn't gone down to the basement.
He wasn't too sure if they'd be down there, he'd never been to the Potter manor basement, assuming it was the same as the one in the Black manor, he hadn't been down there since he was eight and fell backwards down the stairs, it wasn't a pleasant memory, he ended up hitting his head on concrete.
