Chapter 1: "Violet Fits" Part 4/4

But I do care. I'm obviously not set out to help, much less be a superhero. There is no point in hoping. It's useless!

I drop my head as I close my eyes. My chin almost touches my chest as I concentrate on not losing control over my emotions. I repeat and repeat my mantra to prevent blowing or tearing anything with my powers.

"Mind telling me why you're always by yourself?" Victor asks while I think they were long gone.

Sadly, I reply, "You heard the kid. I don't exactly fit in."

He puts his hand on my right shoulder while he points out, "He's green, half of me is metal, and she's from space. You fit in just fine."

We're not normal. We don't belong, but among them, I don't stand out because I fit in. I'm one of them. I belong with them...

He softly pushes me ahead of him towards the others. I embrace his push and follow. Victor and I reach the others huddling behind a corner. Beast Boy, Victor, and I watch as space girl apologizes to Robin.

Robin replies, "Don't worry about it. I'm sorry I yelled, too."

She breaks out a smile saying, "And again, you are... nice. On my world, only my k'norfka has shown me such kindness."

K'norfka? Is that her father or mother?

Robin states, "Well, things are different here."

I watch as they both blush, but behind them Gordanians begin to approach us.

Oh... we've been spotted! I'm not interrupting them.

I nudge Beast Boy with my elbow and point at the Gordanians when he looks at me. Following the direction of my index, his eyes bulge out as he sees the cause for my nudge.

"Uh, guys? I think they know we're here," he interrupts space girl and Robin while pointing at the enraged enemy. I instantly turn around along with Victor to head back from where we came, but more Gordanians leap into our view blocking our path.

We're surrounded. Time to fight.

I pounce to my right while Victor takes the left flank of lizard men. I form a fist out of my black soul-self to punch the majority of the space geckos. As one punches me in the gut, I am knocked backwards into the wall, but Victor grabs a Gordanian and pushes him onto my aggressor. I regain my breathe and create another energy fist as I stand. I punch him in the face as he recuperates from Victor's blow. I finish the last trio of Gordanians and aid Victor.

With our side done, we head towards the rest of our group to find Robin landing a head blow with his staff to the last standing Gordanian.

"Let's go," Robin commands as we head down the hall.

We near two Gordanians guarding a door. We assume they protect Trogaar, so Robin unleashes a few smoke grenades at the duo. While they are disoriented, Victor grabs both of the Gordanians by their head, and he slams them into each other knocking them senseless.

We hear what must be Trogaar saying, "The Earth scum shall learn... it takes more than five juvenile heroes to defy the mighty Lord Trogaar!"

We back away from the door as Robin throws five grenades at the door causing it to be blown inward. We scurrying inside preparing for a fight.

"We're not five heroes. We're one team," Robin announces.

We align ourselves at the rear with Beast Boy and I on Robin's left and Victor with the alien on the right. A ferocious growl replaces Trogaar's victorious grin as it falls igniting the deckhands to attack. Robin charges and lands a flying kick on a blue scaly neck. We react and follow Robin's example. Beast Boy and I take the left side filled with Gordanians. Beast Boy shifts into a bouncing marsupial, a kangaroo, to kick two Gordanians in the abdomen. Comfortable while effective, I use a fist of black energy to punch an oncoming gecko in the face. Beast Boy reverts to human form only to quickly change again into a kangaroo to kick a Gordanian and trip another with his strong tail.
