Chapter 1: "Violet Fits" Part 1/4
Ugh... my head is going to explode. I need to get out of here.
I lock the door from the inside of my apartment and create a portal that leads to the alley behind the apartment building. In my two weeks here, I've noticed people don't have powers or use magic. They are ordinary humans unlike Azarathians, who are modified, so I try to keep myself hidden when I'm using magic.
I exit my portal and began to walk to the park. I sometimes return to the place I first saw when I arrived from Azarath. The park is usually isolated near sunset, and it's peaceful. As I walk, I noticed people doing errands as they rush along. Others are calmly walking hand in hand with their significant other. I see families entering stores or restaurants.
One man though, dressed in baggy jeans and a black t-shirt beneath a white jacket, is trying to pick pocket an unsuspecting girl whose wallet is sticking out of her back jean pocket. As he retrieves it successfully, he slips it into his jacket. I retreat into an alley and activate my powers.
Poor girl... It's wrong to steal from others.
I use my soul-self to infuse myself with the girlish wallet. I slowly lift it from his jacket and return it to the rightful owner. I wasn't too careful with placing her glittered covered wallet into her jean pocket because she looked at her back to search for the cause of the sensation. I quickly release my soul-self, and I see her wallet fall. She notices her pink wallet on the ground and picks it up.
Well, as long as she has it.
I continue walking towards the park. When I pass a cafe advertising tea on their dark-tinted windows, my interest is piqued. Above the door, the cafe has their brand name. It's called "The Spooky Cookie." I enter through the doors hearing a bell ring. I glance at the pastries offered in a glass case.
Cute.
The pastries are shaped into pumpkins with mean glares, while others are shaped into skulls. There is a row of cupcakes that are decorated to look like purple monsters with fangs. I move my glance to their menu and find the section under herbal tea.
Wow... they have a wide variety, and there is a few that are similar in Azarath. They have white, black, green, oolong, rooibos, mate and blooming teas. Blooming... one of my favorites.
I patiently wait in line until I'm next to order.
"May I take your order?" a petite girl with freckles decorating her cheeks asks me.
I read her name tag.
Madeline.
"Yes, please. I'll have a pineapple blooming white tea in a small cup," I order.
"No problem. That will be five dollars with forty cents. It will be ready in a few minutes. Please have a seat and someone will send it to you momentarily," Madeline responds with a smile which causes dimples to appear.
I give her the money and sit in a corner of the cafe. I notice that the cafe has a wall containing dusty books placed upon shelves. I get up from my seat from the bottom left corner of the cafe to walk towards the right side of the cafe passing a couple deep in their conversation at a table. On a booth, there is a man typing away at his laptop while listening to music through his earphones as he bobs his head to the beat. When I reach the bookshelf, I read the titles of the books to find a variety of genres. When I pick a navy colored book, I feel a tap on my left shoulder. I turn around to find the source of the tap. A blonde haired boy with green eyes smiles at me, and he is dressed in the uniform of the cafe. His uniform consists of khaki pants with a green polo shirt. Above his shirt, he has a white apron with the logo and the words "Spooky Cookie" stitched into the apron.
