Chapter 4: "Baby Blue" Part 2/4
Clearing her throat, Knowledge states, "Rude and Happy have been planning this for a while. They have divided into two rival teams of two, in which the teams will try to 'prank' each other. Anger, Timid, and Lazy were excluded for various reasons, and I was appointed referee. Don't worry. I won't permit anything to go out of hand, and we're attentive on finding functional methods to save Earth from Trigon. Besides, it's high time that you must return, or you'll be late."
"What time is it?" I question hesitantly.
Pushing her glasses to the peak of her nose, she answers, "It's an hour and a half before twelve."
I nod relieved that I have time to make a quick detour to "The Spooky Cookie."
"How do I go back?"
She locks her gaze onto mine and beckons with a finger to follow her. Nearing the edge of a bookshelf, she halts and faces me while keeping an eye on a sleeping Anger.
"There's a matter we must settle before you leave," she strictly whispers. "It has to do with the mystery boy and his connections to Trigon. Although we don't know his identity, we need to be alert and cautious; therefore, you must cease all unnecessary contact with anyone... including the Titans. I approve of you joining the team, but I'm warning you: don't get attached. Not only would it be difficult to maintain your emotions, but we need to think of everyone as suspects. If an emergency would occur, you must flee. Keep the monk's training in mind."
Placing her hand on my left shoulder, she applies a minute amount of pressure.
"I'm sorry," she urgently murmurs, "I understand your expectations of Earth being different... where you could've been different, but with the impending danger of Trigon, there's no room for experiencing a variety of feelings. I do promise, however, that we'll work on mastering your emotions. There will be time for it."
"After meeting Trigon, I was actually contemplating the same thing. I will quarantine myself from anyone unless the necessity arises to do otherwise," I declare determined.
I ignore the second portion of her speech only because I wish not to speak about that.
With a ghost of a grin on her lips, she affirms, "Good. Now, think of the room where the mirror is located, and a portal should open, where only you can cross."
She releases my shoulder, and closing my eyes, I engrossed myself with images of my bedroom. I feel a slight pull on my back, and turning around and opening my eyes, I see a gate showing a major portion of my bed and the small drawers on the side. Glancing back, I wave in farewell to Knowledge and to Timid, who is sitting beside a sleeping Lazy. Stepping through the portal, I feel a wrenching sensation drag my body. Finding myself on the floor with my legs crossed and the mirror at my feet, I slowly rise from the ground and stretch because my limbs are numb and sore.
That... was unexpected. So many turbulent emotions and within me. Me... It's strange. I should be freaking out that eight different people live in my mind including the fact that they are a part of me, and one is fueled by evil. But I'm not. And it's pointless to analyze something you don't understand.
Bending over to touch my toes to stretch my legs, I continue to reflect over my situation.
One thing I do understand is Knowledge being right in what I must do. I need to distance myself. That day Beast Boy made me upset with his stupid questions at the diner, my head began to hurt, and whether or not my head commenced to smart because it was Trigon attempting to break my mind or I was simply annoyed, I need to be careful. I don't want to be the cause for humanity's enslavement.
