I smile sadly when I come close to the familiar streets that once used to be my home. I can't help but remember how happy those times were, how happy I was then, but now i have no reason to be happy.
Everything I had, the only people that I loved are now gone and all I'm left is memories of them and a useless giant house.
The first thing I do when I reach Cape May is drive to the local grocery store to get a few things I need for the house. The store is empty apart from an old women and the cashier that seems to be too caught up on her phone.
I take out the small list I made and slowly start getting everything I need, as I go to the cashier to pay the doors open. I see a handsome boy walk in and following after him is a girl that's so beautiful, that makes me think they're some kind of angels.
The cashier brings me back to reality when she offers me my change with a mumble under her breath. I walk back to my car and head to my parents house, it's been such a long time since I came here that a shiver runs down my spine from nervousness.
As I enter everything looks the same as I remember, I can see the light emanating through the curtains and it feels empty without my parents. I walk around the house savoring every inch of it, and stop when I look at the picture my parents got me on my sixteenth birthday.
They got it made by an artist so it could be exactly like my birthmark, they thought it was something special and that it was some sort of a gift from God, but I think it's just a birthmark that's useless and has no meaning to me even though it doesn't bother me either.
I lock the door and walk to my room and start putting my clothes in the drawers. After a couple hours I finish putting everything in its place and head downstairs to make myself something to eat.
The silence gets to me and I put some music to keep my thoughts away, and finish my dinner. Since there's nothing to do, I put on a film and start watching it and I'm about to fall asleep when I hear a knock on the door.
I freak out for no apparent reason, I'm sure it's just the neighbors welcoming me back, but there's still that uneasy feeling that won't dare to go away. I walk to the door and look through the windows to see the boy I saw today with another person that I can't make out. What would they be doing here in the middle of the night? "Maybe they came to say welcome, just calm down Violet." I whisper to myself.
I slowly open the door and smile at the half human half angel looking guys in front of me, "Hello, I know it's late but I live next door and Theo here suggested we come and greet our new neighbor," the one from the store today says shyly.
"It's alright, thank you for coming. I'm Violet by the way," I reach for their hands and they both shake it gently and I'm mesmerized by their beauty that I can't take my eyes off of them.
"I'm Theo and this is Nicholas," the brunette guy says and smiles a smile that seems familiar. "Nick, call me Nick." he corrects his friend. "Well anyway, we just wanted to say welcome and that we would be happy to show you around or befriend you if you ever get lonely around here." Nick says ,
"Thank you, and I sure will reach out to you since I don't have much friends around here anymore." I smile and wave as we share goodbyes. They seem sweet and pretty hot to be talking to me but it's still weird how they thought of coming in the middle of the night.
I turn off the TV and head to my room and drift off to sleep hoping that tomorrow goes well.
