Three. {the cabin}

I wake up to my alarm, thanking God that my dads alarm didn't ring today, because I would be terrified even more.

I quickly get ready and make myself some breakfast and head to school. As I hurry to my first class someone bumps into me and my bag falls to the ground, I look at the jerk that caused it and see Daniel leaning down to pick up my bag.

What surprises me is the glimpse of a mark I see on his inner arm, "I'm really sorry Violet," he says sincerely, but I'm too distracted and confused on how he has the same mark as I do. "oh, it's alright." I mutter after a while, I want to ask him about the mark but he quickly walks away.

I'm confused and I don't know what to think, but what if it's a tattoo? It was a pretty dark brown so it should be a tattoo, why else would we have the same birthmark? I realize that I've been standing in the middle of the hallway for a while now and hurry to class.

The day goes by fast and I go to my last class, which is volleyball ,definitely not my favorite class, but I had to take a sports class just so it could help with my diploma. I change to my shorts and a tshirt as the coach gives us a ball to play volleyball.

Iris enters the class with a worried face and stands next to me throughout the whole game, maybe I can ask her about the mark I saw on Daniel.

I walk up to her but before I can speak she says, "Violet, would you like to come with me afterschool, I need to tell you something." I don't know what to answer so I just nod, I guess I'll have to ask her later on.

The bell rings and I take a quick shower in the locker rooms and change back to my clothes, as I'm going out of the locker rooms I see Iris waiting for me impatiently.

I do not know what's going on but I need to ask her about Daniel as soon as I can, "Iris, I saw a mark on Dan-" I start but she suddenly interrupts me "yes I know and that's a part of what we're going to talk about," I just stay quiet and follow her to her pastel yellow Volkswagen beetle.

"I know this may all seem weird to you but I just want you to hear us out and then everything will make sense I promise you. I have been through it too." she says in a hurry, "What may seem weird? Iris I don't understand." i ask but receive no answer.

The car comes to a halt when we reach the woods, she gets out of the car and so do I, mimicking her actions. She walks fast, as if in a hurry but she also seems nervous and I don't understand any of this but for some reason I trust her.

After walking for almost 10 minutes I can see a small cabin located right in the middle of the woods and a shiver runs down my spine for some odd reason. what if she's just bringing you here to murder you? My subconscious adds to my nervousness but I can't seem to stop walking and I have no control over my brain right now.

We enter the cabin and the decoration inside takes me off guard, the hallways are filled with shelves of books and as we walk in there's a TV and a couple of couches followed by a staircase that leads to a small living room with more books and a coffee table.

Im too distracted that I bump into something hard, but when I look up I see gorgeous green eyes looking back at me. I back away and ask Alex "What's happening? Why am I here?"

"We will explain but I just need to warn you not to freak out and go around telling people about any of the things you will learn today," he explains.

We ? I turn around to see Nick, Theo, Daniel and Iris standing near the doorway almost as if prisoning me inside the cabin.

Everything that's happening is freaking me out and I honestly have no idea how to react so I try to act calm, listen to what they're trying to tell me. I sit down on the couch that looks more comfortable than it actually is.

They all stand in front of me and Nick speaks up first " The reason we're talking to you so soon is that our smart friend Daniel forgot that he had to keep his birthmark hidden from you for a while not to rush things," he explains sarcastically, so it is a birthmark then.

"Violet we don't know how to explain this but you were chosen just like us to have powers, because we all have that birthmark." Alex tries to explain and I almost start laughing but try to keep a straight face seeing as they're not actually kidding and this all isn't some sort of a prank.

"What kind of powers? And also I might need some proof of the birthmark so I'd like to see all of yours." I say quite sarcastically.

Realizing my tone Nick comes next to me and starts unbuttoning his shirt and I freak out momentarily until I see the mark on his collar bone, it's the same one I have on the back of my shoulder, seeing the mark freaks me out even more come to think of it.

I touch it to see if it smears or if it's ink but it's not, it feels just like mine and I don't know what to do or what to feel because all this is weird to me.

Next Theo comes and shows me his inner wrist revealing the same mark, two hearts mirroring each other.

Iris starts to come next to me but I stop her saying "Its alright I believe that we all have the same birthmark but I don't understand why this means anything or what it means to be exact."

"We will explain later on but first can we see yours?" Alex asks, I just nod and turn around putting the strap of my shirt down for them to see the same mark on my back shoulder.

"Its exactly the same!" I hear Iris mutter with excitement, I don't understand whats so exciting about this it's rather creepy than exciting.

"Alright since I do most of the talking I'll explain what this whole thing is about," Nick suggests calmly and I just nod for him to continue,

"Basically we all are born with supernatural powers, but they will not appear unless we perform the ceremony as a group. The ceremony has many stages and I believe that we will go through them all. We will not be having our powers unless we perform the ceremony and the thing we're best in will be chosen as our power, there are many powers we know from our ancestors but we can not know which ones we will get. There is a book from our ancestors that will teach us how to perform the ceremony, right now though we can use some spells that are written down by our ancestors." he finishes off and I feel the urge to laugh but I don't.

I've never believed anything supernatural or paranormal, I might believe it if I see some proof but I have a feeling that they're messing with me.

"Are you guys all on drugs?" I ask casually and I see Daniel trying really hard not to laugh from the corner of the room although the rest all look dead serious.

"I told you guys that it was too early and she wasn't going to believe it," Theo mutters and I start laughing because I can't help it anymore.

I get up and walk to the door but im stopped by a hand on my wrist and I look up to see Alex.

"Violet please I- we need you to trust us, the sooner we start the ceremony the faster we can finish and all have our powers to protect ourselves rather than some spells that are only temporary." he pleas which makes it harder for me to ignore him.

"This is all so crazy Alex, I need a proof to know if what Nick said is remotely possible." I say calmly. "Come with me," he says and I do just that.
