You continue wandering around, exploring the world around you, late into the night. You were getting many stares due to your ears, but you had nothing to hide them with. It was the summer, after all, so you were only wearing a shirt and some shorts.

Though it was cold, you found an alleyway to fall asleep in. You wake up to a loud CLASH, and you see two people outside, one with an ivory colored cloak and a golden, owl-shaped mask and similar-colored armor, the other wearing a black hood and dirty clothes.

You try to get up and speak, but another criminal wearing black has their gloved hand over your mouth. You squirm, trying to get out of the grip of this person. Their grip and the limits of the alleyway makes your escapade very difficult.

Luckily, the golden masked person notices you, and he disappears into red particles and grabs you then teleports you to the roof of a close building. "I'll come back for you later," he pants softly.

You weirdly find his voice cute, despite how most would probably find it annoying. You look down from the roof and watch him beat all of the criminals with his speed and strategy. After he finishes, he looks back at you, noticing your peeking. "Impressed?"

Your eyes widen, realizing you were staring at his fighting, you roll back further on the roof, and he teleports and looks down at you. "It's probably not very good to sleep here," he lends you a hand.

You accept it. "Sorry, I'm new to..." you hesitate. What was this town called again?

"Bonesborough," he finishes your sentence for you, "I noticed you looked a little," He gestures to your ears, "different." You blush and cover your round ears with your hands.

"Hahaha," he laughs at your embarrassment, "I'm the Golden Guard, I work for the Emperor here."

"Emperor?"

"Yeah, I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you came with me to the castle overnight, we can find a place for you to stay tomorrow."

You looked at him and blushed slightly, "okay." You smile at him.

He takes out his staff and props it up, preparing to fly. You look at him confused. "Get on. It's not as scary as it looks," he gestures towards you and you sit on the staff behind him.

Before you can even blink, you two are launched into the air and the staff darts forward. You feel yourself about to fall off and so you wrap your arms around the Golden Guard.

"Anxious?"

"Wh-what is happening??"

You tightly shut your eyes and strengthen your grip on him as you soon feel the wind slow. You begin to feel yourself lower and you open your eyes to a ginormous castle crawling with guards. None of them looked like the Golden Guard, though.

"Is this the Emperor's Castle?" You look to him as he puts away his staff.

"Yeah, come with me," he starts forward and you grab his cloak as to not get lost.

He makes his way to a small, surprisingly clean room and sits down on the bed. "This is where you will sleep tonight," he taps the spot next to him and you sit there. "If you need anything, I'll be across the hallway. I'll see you in the morning." He gets up and walks to the door. You can feel him smiling slightly behind his mask.

"Thanks, Golden Guard," You smile as he gets up and walks out the door.

"No problem. I hope to get to know you as you explore Bonesborough," He walks out of the room.

You lay down on the bed and think about the events of today. Your exploring, Luz, and that Golden Guard. You have only known him for a day, but now he is stuck in your head.

After a few minutes of reflection, you fall asleep once more.
