You wake up to find it dark. You look down to see Hunter still sitting in a seat he pulled up next to you, your fingers still interlocked. He is asleep, his head laying on your lap.

You would move them away to get yourself more comfortable, but you don't want to wake him or cause any more pain to yourself.

You should rest. You're tired and weak. You attempt to fall asleep once again but you feel him begin to move a little, which startles you. You look at Hunter in the dark, you can barely see him but you cam see enough to distinguish his features. He is still wearing his golden mask but the hood of his cloak has fallen off, and you can see his fluffy hair, with a small piece hanging in the front. You can't tell what color his hair is, though.

You start to think of the possibilities. Maybe it's brown or blonde. You like brown hair but you'd much prefer a blonde. Ah, who cares anyways. He's just a friend. Even so, you continue weighing the possibilities until you inevitably doze off again.

You wake up to the sound of pacing in front of you.

"Oh, you're awake. Good," Hunter hands you a plate of food. You can still see the imprint of his mask on your leg.

"Thanks. Did you sleep well?"

He jumps at the idea of you seeing him the previous night, "oh yeah, it was... as good as it always is." He awkwardly grabs his sleeve and looks away.

You attempt to break the tension with a question, "are you going anywhere today?"

"Uh, no. I have to take care of you today, I asked Emperor Belos for a day off for you."

"Aren't there healers?"

"They're not used to humans. They told me that if I ever found a human, they would dissect them, so.. I can't tell them."

"Well from what I've seen, you guys are almost like me, minus the ears. You have magic, right? Just hide them," you state rather proudly.

"No," he raises his tone of voice, "I can't risk you getting hurt."

"Oh, okay," you whisper softly and blush. Why does he care about you this much? Why do you care about him this much?

"A-anyways, you should rest. I'll go and-"

"Wait! Don't leave," you interrupt, "I don't want to be alone here."

He looks back at you.

You try to sit up again, but fail. "I can't do anything on my own. What if I get hurt?" You had never been in a situation like this before, so you were in a bit of a panic.

He turns around and exits the room shortly. When he returns, he brings a pile of books for you.

"Oh, thank you."

"Sorry. I won't leave unless I need to."

"It's okay, I mean you have a-"

He stands up and walks up next to you, you can hear him whispering to himself.

He's... beautiful.

The fluffy hair you saw before is now revealed a light blonde color, and with the mask removed you can now see his dark magenta eyes with bags under them, a scar on his tight cheek, a tooth gap, and it's all brought together by some slightly rosy cheeks, more than likely caused by embarrassment.

You have no words. You can only stare.

"I, uh, thought since we are going to be spending all of this time together we, um, might as well get comfortable." He stutters as he attempts to explain himself.

"Hmm, that's nice." You give him a tired smile, "how about you read me this book?" You grab the book next to you from the pile and hand it to him.

"Oh, this one? Have you read it? Where are you at?"

"Chapter... 1...1......." you slowly drift back into a slumber as your words continue.
