About 6 hours later, Hope and Josie finally make it to their room at a cozy hotel in New Mexico, just a few miles away from the site of the geomagnetic storms.

The first thing Josie noticed when they entered their room was that there are now (unfortunately) two beds instead of the one they shared the previous night.

So now she doesn't have the obvious excuse to get so close to the Tribrid.

——

They still have plenty of time for Hope to finish briefing Josie and to get ready before they head out for their undercover assignment.

Hope tried to brief Josie on everything she knows about the anomaly during the car ride.

Three witnesses on site at the time of both storms.

Claims of a 'rainbow light tornado' shooting down from the sky, only to disappear in seconds.

And the same witnesses getting involved in an accident involving an unidentified pedestrian moments after the 2nd storm, which could very well be unrelated.

But there have been no official public reports of the accident or the anomaly, only speculation from townsfolk.

But the federal agents of the DHS have kept a tight lid on the entire situation, even leaving information out of the vehicular accident report, like what the 3 witnesses were doing there in the first place.

Roman is currently trying to figure out more about the witnesses. Who they are, where they're from, why they were at the sites, why aren't their statements included in any documentation?

But without witnessing the event first-hand or any public documentation about the witnesses who were there at the time of the anomalies, Hope doesn't have much more information to figure out what kind of threat they may be facing.

Perhaps the biggest threat of all is the exposure of the supernatural community to the public, if the anomaly turns out to be supernatural in nature.

The outcome of that would be absolute chaos.

After finishing her hair and makeup, Josie heads into the restroom to slip on her dress, leaving Hope in the bedroom to start getting dressed herself.

Josie groans when she can't reach her zipper on the back of her dress.

She calls out to Hope from inside the bathroom, "Hope, are you decent? I need you to zip me up."

"Um, not entirely, but you can come in here."

Josie makes her way back into the bedroom, freezing, and practically drooling, when she sees Hope stop in the middle of getting dressed to help her, only in her pinstripe dress pants, bra, and her white dress shirt pulled over her shoulders but not yet buttoned up.

Since Josie fails to move an inch, Hope makes her way around the girl to her back side, reaching for her zipper and zipping her up, though she lets her fingertips graze her skin.

Josie tries to snap herself out of it, clearing her throat and turning around to face the Tribrid, slowly making an effort to button up Hope's shirt, though her eyes wish to linger on her exposed skin longer.

Hope subtly grins gratefully as Josie works on the buttons.

Now that she faces the girl, she can get a good look at the brunette girl in her dress, with hair and makeup done to perfection.

Hope soaks up the image, and Josie can feel her skin heat up everywhere Hope's eyes trace, her cheeks growing pink at the attention, but she tries to remain focused on the buttons—definitely not the bare skin just past them.
