Liam

Yeah, it's been a while.

Between ups and downs, surprises and twists - including the fact that I'm a freaking omega - I'm here, present and accounted for.

And though I'm nowhere near ready for conception, I am ready to complete the freaking bond. My goodness, it's been a long time coming!

Yes, he may not be the mate that I thought, hoped or even considered for myself. Nevertheless, George Stonehold is my mate and I should be glad to have him.

Especially after such a long time thinking of myself as mateless. That was a drag I don't wish upon anybody.

Now, with the town readying itself for the heir apparent to come of age, I'm good and ready. It's been almost 2 months since I'm mated. No one takes this long to complete the bond.

Though, to be fair, I don't see Miriam and Jeff completing it anytime soon. But that's another discussion and none of my business.

I can only speak for myself. And I'm good to go.

"Are you excited for your mate's birthday party, sweetie?" - Mom asked me during breakfast at the guest dining room of the pack house.

"Yes, mom. So excited. It's the most talked about party of the school year." - I replied with an enthusiastic tone.

"I see. Well, how nice. I'm glad you found your mate, even if he's not who you'd expect." - She said with a modest smile.

"Thanks, mom. I'm happy too. I never would've expected to be mated to a Stonehold either. But that's the least of my worries, as it turns out." - I said, a bit uncomfortable.

I've told my mom about the result of my DNA analysis and she was shocked. She never would've imagined it and it took her a minute to sink in.

But at least I know this in advance, so I can be prepared for it. I mean, as much as possible. There's not much I can do about it, except maybe stock pile on heat medicine apparently.

After breakfast, I returned to my room to rest before the big night. The party is going to be right here at the pack house, the only place big enough to host an event of this magnitude.

Since it's the future Alpha's 18th, invitations were sent to all the allied packs to solidify the partnership for another generation.

It's wolf business for you. It's as traditional and reputation driven as can be. But it's to be expected for a momentous occasion such as this.

And when the time comes, George's ascension ceremony will be witnessed by the entire town plus all allied Alphas. In a way, tonight is just a preview of the upcoming ascension.

Normally, the future Alpha would have his mate revealed to him tonight. But that ship has long sailed. There's a knock at my door.

"What are you doing here? Happy birthday!" - I greet my mate with a very surprised face.

"Relax, Liam. It's not our wedding, I'm allowed to see you before the party." - He snickered as he entered. I giggled like an idiot.

"I know that. I just figured you'd be busy with the preparations." - I said in an annoyed tone.

"Daddy is plenty busy for the both of us, trust me! He's barking orders and bossing my dad around like it's my ascension ceremony." - He smirked.

I couldn't help but laugh at this. I can't even imagine someone bossing the Alpha. But Luna is an equal to the Alpha, the only adult who isn't required to bow their head. You bow to other Alphas, per protocol, but never to your own.
