LATER THAT DAY
"You know I'm actually excited about going to TOPGUN with you. Means I get to see a lot more of ya. You excited honey?" Bern states with that high pitched southern accent. "You have no idea. I can't wait to actually show you the planes and actually what I do." He says as he kisses Bern on the forehead. They were beginning to pack for their long trip and Bern was kind of at a loss. She has never had to pick up her life and move in a matter of days. The thought of packing everything she'd need for four weeks scared her. She wouldn't call herself high maintenance, but she likes her choices when it comes to clothes. They had both decided to leave the next morning so that they would get to San Diego by sunset.
The rest of the day was filled with packing and reminiscing when they found old polaroid at the bottom of drawers. Bern had made Bobby's favorite dinner that night. She wanted it to be memorable. She knew there was a chance he wouldn't come back. It broke her heart every time she thought about it. They both sat down on the couch after the hearty dinner and start watching a show Bern was in. "You remember the day we met, and how you almost peed your pants when I started talking to you?" Bern questioned spontaneously. "Not like that." Bob said nervously.

FLASHBACK
9th grade formalBern has been eyeing him the entire night. Hoping this cute nerd would just come over and talk to her. He'd been looking at her too, so it wasn't like she was waiting for something that was never going to happen. Bern's friends laughed at her she told them who she had a "crush" on. She felt bad. Not for her friends but for this boy. She'd heard of him before. 'The gentleman' as her friend would call him. She also knew his name was Bob.
She finally pulled herself together and walked over to Bob. There was a slow song coming on so she thought it was the perfect time to ask him to dance. "Hey you're Bob, right? You wanna dance?" "I-uh...um" he stuttered. "If you don't want to that's totally fine I-" She rushed nervously before her interrupted. "No, no I do I swear I do." He reassured. "Great." She said excitedly. She grabbed his hand and walked him over to a clear space for them to slow dance. When they began dancing, he asked, "You're Bernadette Montgomery right?" "In the flesh" she snickered. He was a good dancer. He didn't hesitating to but his hand on her side but not being weird about it like every other 15-year-old boy in the room. He was spinning her around at the right times too. "So, you're Bob, right?" She asked. "Yeah-I mean yes, yes my name is Bob or Robert." She smiled at how he could barely get any words out. The pink forming on his cheeks made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside. As the song ended, the two thanked each other and before Bob could get another word out, she kissed him on the cheek. " I'll see you around." Bern said as she quickly walked back to her friends. Bob could not believe that the girl of his dreams had come over and asked him to dance and then kissed him on the cheek.
That was the night that Bob knew he would love Bern till the day he died, maybe even after that.

PRESENT"Does that clear it up?" Bern says. "Definitely darlin." Bobby said. He had remembered the day they 'officially' met like it was yesterday. How could he forget. Bobby just loved when Bern tells little stories. That day has been the start of his new life. A life with Bern in it.
