"What?!" He says with shock in his dark blue eyes. " I found out a couple of days ago, but I couldn't... figure out how to say it. I know I'm stupid for not-" Bern began to apologize before Bobby pressed his lips to her forehead and hugged her maybe a little too tight, "Never say your stupid honey. I understand, you've been workin your ass of at work." He says. "I went to my gynecologist yesterday to confirm and she said that I'm... 3 months pregnant." Bern says.
It's not like they didn't want to get pregnant and have a family, it's just that they were always scared that Bobby wouldn't be there during her pregnancy or worse during the birth. Bern had already notified her manager about the pregnancy. Bern was gonna keep it a secret from Bob while he was away at TOP GUN ask he wouldn't worry, but after he witnessed her puke her guts out she had to tell him.
"What does this mean for us Bern, tell me what you want to say." He says starting to tear up. "I'm comin with you Bobby, to TOPGUN I mean. I don't wanna be here alone while pregnant. I already told Katie (her manager) and I have the whole eight weeks cleared." She felt like he was either gonna run away from her or he was gonna leave the Navy, no in between. "Oh god Bern, I love you. I don't deserve you." She was stepping away from her career temporarily for him. "Bobby don't cry, you know what that'll lead to." She confessed starting to tear up herself. " I'm just so happy I-I-" "I know honey." She interrupted.
Bobby doesn't cry. Like at all. He was born in a conservative Christian household where he was surrounded by toxic masculinity. He was punished for showing emotion. The two had been trying to work through that, which is one of main reasons why he knew she was the one. The two times Bob had ever cried was at their wedding when she was walking down the isle and today, when he found out he was gonna be a father.
