ROAD-TRIP
BERN
"Okay, everything's in the car and ready. You wanna go to brunch before we officially leave?" She inquired. I'd love to blonde." He chuckled as he said the little nickname, he came up with almost a decade ago after she almost dyed her hair brown. "Robby what did I tell you about calling me that!" She blurted.
The love birds went to a cute little coffee shop on the ocean. They were surprised they had never been there before. The food was amazing and as the two looked out at the ocean Bern mumbled, "Do you remember the first time I asked you to hang out and you insisted on taking me somewhere?" "Um...yes." He replied. "Are you lying to me Floyd?" She accused. "Yes ma'am." He admitted. "Well, I'll remind you then."
FLASHBACK
EARLY OCTOBER OF 2012
BERN'S POVGosh, I kinda miss him. No, I miss him. Okay well, I'll just call him when I get back home from girls' day.
Okay, so how should I do this? 'Hey Bob, I have a huge crush on you, and I think we should go out...' No, not that. It's true though, I think he's the sweetest man alive and I want him all to myself. Okay, don't be a coward just pick up the phone and dial the damn number, Bernadette.
Come on, come on, come on! Pick up!"Floyd residence, who's calling?" A female voice uttered. "Bernadette Montgomery ma'am, I was wondering if I could talk to Bob?" I questioned. All I could hear was, "BOBBY! THERE'S A GIRL IN THE LINE FOR YOU!"
"Bernadette?" He mumbled. "How'd you know?" I asked. "Not many girls call me Bern, you'd be the first." He added. "Well, I called you because I wanted to know if you wanted to maybe go do somethin' this Friday night?" She requested. "Yeah, I mean I'd love to." He stammered. Now it's Friday, the big day. I put on a simple outfit and light makeup because I didn't know where we were going. In this small town all there is to do was to go to Walmart and drink Arnold Palmer's.

Where I live, it's acceptable to drive alone at 14 so getting picked up by Bob wasn't weird. Another thing is my parents are country club parents as some like to call them. I call them parents-that-aren't-parents' parents. Which means they leave me with money and a house with food in it and go away for weeks on end. I think they're in Greece this week. I mean why have me if you're not gonna be here?
I hear a soft knock at the door at around 5:30. I quickly walk down the stairs and see Allison, the "maid," opening the door. I hate calling her that. She's so much more than that. I mean she was here before I was. Which was 15 years ago. She was there when my parents weren't.
"Hello!" Alison says with her dazzling smile. "Hi-Hello, I'm Bob. I'm here to pick up Bernadette." He says proudly as he glances up at the stairs where I am. Alison peered over her shoulder and saw me, prompting her to move to the side and walk back to the kitchen. When we were now about a foot away from each other I say, "Hi." "Hey." "You ready, Bobby?" I ask hoping he liked the new nickname. "Always" he mumbled as he began to grow a pink hue in his cheeks just like the dance.
Did I mention he brought me flowers? He brought me some dang flowers.
As I approached his car, he crossed in front of me to open the car door. No one had ever done that for me besides my dad. This boy knew what he was doing. Yet, he didn't seem like he wanted to get in my panties either. He's just Bob and that's how I like him-
PRESENT
"Hey doll, I don't mean to interrupt but we gotta get on the road soon if you wanna make it to San Diego by sunset," Bobby stated. "Oh, shit your right. Gosh, I ramble too much." Bern admits
"That's one of the things I love about you."
He whispers into her ear before grabbing her waist and pulling her into an electrifying kiss.
