The sky was dark. Not a single sound from the sleepy pups, except for a Cockapoo who was laying down by the shoreline near the Lookout tower. From a distance, Chase saw her from his pup house. He believed the time was now, but so many thoughts kept stabbing him like bullets, holding him back from confessing his feelings to the one pup he cares for. His mind was made up. The German Shepherd grasped one massive breath, then he carefully made his way to her.
"Hey." He spoke in a calming tone, then came to a halt. "Hey." She replied, keeping her eyes out to sea. Chase then slowly approached her. "Mind if I sit with you?" Chase asked. "Only because you asked politely." Skye granted jokingly. Chase smiled and took his place next to Skye.
Both of their eyes were aimed out to sea. The waters sparkled in reflection of the stars; no moonlight brightened up the rest of the town.
"Beautiful scene, isn't it?" Skye spoke, referring to the view in front of them. "Sure is." Chase agreed.
Without her noticing, Chase turned his eyes to Skye, seeing that she was still staring out to sea. He could see a worried look upon the Cockapoo's face.
"Is there something wrong?" Chase asked. Skye jumped as if she had just come out of a daydream. "Nothing. It's all fine." Skye said, shaking her head under her paw.
Chase heard it in her voice. He sensed the dishonesty coming from her. He wanted to admit his thoughts, but he was just too afraid that he might break the bond between the two. He decided to brave it and let it out on one breath could be regretful for the German Shepherd.
"Skye, I've been meaning to say this." He said with strength. Skye slowly turned to him, with eyebrows raised to their limit. "I've wanted to say this for an extremely long time, but I didn't know when to bring it up." Chase admitted. Skye saw his ears flop down behind his head. "Chase, where is this going?" Skye asked, feeling more curious as to what he was about to say. Chase scrunched his eyes up, then eased them and raised his pupils at her.
"Well, the thing is," Chase said. The two kept their eyes on each other. "I love..." Chase spoke, then was cut off by the sound of an explosion and a shockwave. The two pups were pushed off their paws and flown apart. Chase got up and went to Skye's aid. "Thanks, Chase. What was that?" She asked.
The two pups looked up and saw a blue light beaming into the night sky in the distance, followed by a raging orange glow. The sound of the shockwave woke the others up and saw the beam just like Chase and Skye. The pups were paralyzed down to their voices. Just then, their pup tags started flashing.
"Ryder? Are you there?" Marshall's voice came.
"I'm here. What's wrong, Marshall?" Ryder's voice replied.
"There's been an explosion back at the plant at Block Unit 4." Marshall reported.
"Where are you now?" Ryder asked.
"In the reception area." Marshall answered.
"Are there others with you?" Ryder asked.
"No. Just me." Marshall responded. "Okay, sit tight. We're on our way. Paw Patrol, to the Lookout." Ryder called.
"Ryder needs us." Skye called, then started to sprint toward the tower, leaving Chase behind. "Well, until next time I guess." He muttered to himself, feeling his ears flop down at the side of his face. He then went after her, joined by the others in the elevator. Once they were dressed in their uniforms, they reached the top and lined up, all except Marshall who was still back at the nuclear plant.
"Paw Patrol, ready for action, Ryder, sir." Chase informed with determination. Ryder press the button on his pup-pad and the screen lowered down.
"Thanks for hurrying at this time of the day, pups, but we've got a troubling situation right now. Marshall is at the nuclear power plant, where there's been a huge explosion." Ryder reported. Gasps shocked around the pups. "This might look like a dangerous mission, but we're not sure how dangerous it is, so for this mission, I'll need..." Ryder explained, then swiped his pad until a wrench appeared on a yellow badge.
