Forty-eight hours had passed since the Soviet Union stormed in to take over Adventure Bay's nuclear crisis. The troops and every single citizen of Adventure Bay had been evacuated. More Soviet troops came pouring in like molten lava. Igor and Edmund were the only 'helpful' personnel to not only the Soviet Commander but the Paw Patrol as well. During those forty-eight hours, Igor and Edmund took the opportunity to set their little base of operations at the Lookout alongside the rescue team. It wasn't until the day after the Soviets came in when Rocky noticed that a certain pup wasn't around. He remembered waking up on a bean bag as he and the other pups were watching 'Apollo the Super Dog' to take their minds off the disaster. As he looked around, he saw Skye snuggling up with Chase as the two had given away the sign that they were in love, Marshall kept Everest comfortable as the two quietly snored away, Ryder also held Katie close and Rubble and Tracker slept quietly on their own.
But there was someone who he had forgotten.
As his ears picked up the sound of a hovercraft's fans buzzing, Rocky, with his instincts kicking in, raced toward the door and jumped ahead of the charging vehicle. It came to no surprise for the mixed breed as it came to a complete halt, then looking up to see its driver.
"Rocky, what are you doing?" Zuma asked quietly, trying to not wake the others. "It should be me who's asking that first." Rocky backfired. Zuma knew he had a point. Rocky looked back at the entrance of the Lookout, then returned them a worried chocolate Labrador. "Any moment now Ryder and the others are going to wake up and when they realise you've gone missing, who knows how they're going to react." Rocky pointed out.
Then the doors opened up. Zuma would soon realise the true nature of what Rocky's words meant by 'realise'. The Labrador turned to see an awoken Bulldog rubbing his eyes and then rolling them up to see him in his vehicle. "Zuma?" Rubble groaned. "What are you doing?"
Zuma hid his face away from his friends. He knew exactly what he was doing but he doesn't know how much of a risk factor it would be. Zuma then turned to face the two that were waiting for an explanation. "I remember hearing something between those Igor and Edmund dudes, talking about a cooling water tank pipe underneath the reactor." Zuma began. Rubble slowly joined Rocky by his side as the water pup explained his reason for being up so early. "They said that if the contents of the reactor were to come into contact with the pipe, a much bigger explosion would occur; twenty times worser than the original explosion."
Both the Terrier and Bulldog tilted their heads as an eyebrow from each pup shot up. "And what's this got to do with you being up this early?" Rocky asked.
Then a thought made Rubble gasp in theory. He surely thought the water pup would do. Rubble examined the hovercraft and saw nothing that had Zuma's name on it.
"You're not running away, are you?" A shaking Rubble dared to question. Rocky spun his head around to the Bulldog, then back at Zuma. "No, dude. I'm not a coward." The chocolate Labrador reassured the young Bulldog. Rubble sighed in relief. "It's because I'm worried the water is still under there, which will at most guarantee the explosion." Zuma explained. Before he chose his words carefully, Zuma breathed in the oxygen that he still had left. He tried to maintain straight contact with his closes friend. "And I'm going to check." Zuma finished.
The Terrier and Bulldog were caught by surprise by the fact he was going back to the reactor, completely naked to the radiation. "You're not seriously going back there, are you?" Rubble testified. "We can't go back. Besides, Rubble and I already had our lives hanging by threads." Rocky argued. "Then you don't have to come with me. I was in no way implying you guys have to come with me." Zuma explained, gently applying pressure on the gas pedal. But an uncomfortable mixed breed wasn't moving from his post.
