Skye was resting up in bed on the top floor of the Lookout. Marshall had returned to base to examine how her condition was doing and to see to every injury she had from the crash back at Chernobyl. From aside, while observing, Chase watched the EMT pup do his magic. He wished he was there for not only comfort but aid the bed-bounded Cockapoo. His eyes kept on switching back to Marshall, then to Skye. The same feeling persisted in his veins. He tried to shake them off for the time being and focused on the current situation. Just then, he was brought out of his thoughts when Marshall had finished his inspection.
"I guess there's nothing else that needs sorting. So you're in good shape, that's if nothing drastic happens." Marshall stated. "Thanks, Marshall." Skye praised.
The Cockapoo slowly rose herself up to the point where she could extend her paws down to the ground. She was half steady to go back to flying her helicopter. She felt like being back at square one. Chase, on the other hand, got out of his uncomfortable position and approached her. He knew this was now or never for himself. Chase wanted one more shot at confessing his love towards the Cockapoo before she was snatched by death.
"Hey Skye," Chase spoke. "I see you're looking like your true self now." Skye smiled at his words. She could feel her heart skipping away with cupid's arrow.
"Aww, thanks, Chase." She replied. Chase also felt his heart skipping away with cupid's arrow. He shook off whatever was drowning him out and focused on what he was meant to do. "Listen, I was wondering if you wanted to sit by the shore with me?" Chase proposed. For Chase, it felt like the dumbest thing to ask in the world in the lead up to confessing his feelings toward the flight pup. He felt his body with a sudden urge to slam his paw into his face for asking such a question.
"Sure. I would love that." She answered. The answer caught Chase off guard. "Really? I mean, sure. Happy with whatever you say." Chase smiled, trying to hold back his shock.
Skye asked Marshall if she was able to go out, to which he happily allowed. Since Skye was on the road to recovery, she couldn't walk at a normal pace. Chase helped her to the elevator and back out as they reached the ground floor. The two pups got outside and hiked down to where the sand and the sea met. As Chase carefully helped Skye take her place on the sand, the two sat down and enjoyed the sun descending into the covers of the horizon. "Wow. Just like the night before what happened." Skye pointed out. "You're right, but with a beautiful sunset." Chase added. The two kept their eyes out to sea.
Then Skye began to have a sense of Déjà vu but without the explosion. All the Cockapoo remembered just mere seconds before that night changed everything, was the accompanying German Shepherd claiming he loved something or someone. Skye became increasingly worried. Was it that he loved Everest? Maybe he saw another female pup that isn't a part of the Paw Patrol that he loves. What if he was about to say Marshall and admit that he was homosexual; surely she heard that Everest had feelings for the firefighting Dalmatian in the past. Skye could feel the butterflies in her stomach were rapidly flying faster, or the number just crept up.
The German Shepherd noted that something was bothering the Cockapoo as he turned his head to see a concerning look upon her face. "Is there something wrong, Skye?" Chase asked. Skye jolted like she had woken up from a nightmare. She hung her head then lifted it back up as she inhaled a reassuring amount of oxygen, then exhaled with one thought from her mind. "I can't help but think that were was something you wanted to say to me before the reactor mysteriously blew up."
Chase felt his ears straightening out as he gulped. He knew that she would bring the moment back.
"You mentioned that you 'loved' something," Skye recalled. "Or someone." Chase was felt like every hair on his body had turned white. He took in a huge pocket of air into his nose, and with that air. "I, well, the thing is..." Skye looked more worried. She felt herself leaning a few inches closer from where she sat. Chase couldn't say it, he thought to himself that regret would strike like thunder. His lips trembled. His heart raced like a Formula One racing car. "I love you, Skye." Chase heard himself exhale.
