After the trial, Igor, Edmund, Ryder, Chase, Marshall were in the cafeteria of the Courthouse. Images ran through everyone's minds. From the start to the end. Ryder could barely think anything out of the negative. His own mind convinced him he had lost everything. His life, his home, Katie, even the Paw Patrol. A family he could not have asked anything better than. Chase was sunken more than anyone else. A pup, who he truly fell in love with, was taken away in a blink of an eye. The Shepherd kept the memories of her alive. He feared if he lost just one, he wouldn't be able to go on without that lost memory. Fortunately, he had his life-long friend at his side. A friend he needed whenever he was in trouble or stressed, he'd be there on the double. A friend that had his back, even if he was living on his own.
The silence continued with a fade of chatter from the outside. "So that's it?" Edmund asked. "Is it over?" Edmund asked. Igor woke up from his daydream to see himself in a different situation. He saw that Ryder, Chase, Marshall and Edmund staring at the professor. Moments flashed by him. The call. On arrival. The Boron drop. The suicide squad. The miners. Masha. A-Z5. All of this lead up to one simple answer.
"No," He answered. "It's far from over. That power plant is still a threat. What we did was to prevent an outbreak. A start of a pandemic where we see the death toll surpassing seven figures. Now, what we didn't stop is another disaster." All eyes widened at his words in disbelief. "I don't know how long but with the radioactive lava still under the reactor, I believe there's another countdown to another explosion," Igor continued. "And with the sarcophagus being built to cover the destroyed unit block, I don't know what else to say, except for that I'm scared for might happen"
"I think we all are." Chase agreed. "You all should be." A voice came.
They turned around to see an older gentleman standing in the doorway, leading into the cafeteria. "Legasov. A word. Now." He demanded.
Igor straightened his tie and left the others. Another face he knew. A face that lead up to this moment. A face that got Igor to where he is. As he followed the gentleman, many Soviet officials greeted the gentleman but Igor only received stares. The professor followed the gentleman into the courtyard of the Courthouse and stopped by a monument of Joseph Stalin.
"Comrade Komarov, I should have known you sent the KGB after me again." Igor spoke. "At what right have you got to address me as your fellow comrade? Your testimony isn't going to be accepted. The KGB will see to that." Komarov stated.
"So what, you're going to keep me silenced, just like my father?" Igor asked in no fear.
"I never said that. Whatever you did at Chernobyl, will become the actions of the Soviet leaders. You won't meet with those people again; you won't speak to them, and you won't mention Chernobyl again. The world will find it hard to know that you never existed." Chekov told him. "Yet my father spoke out. He did so when I was five and when he took his own life." Igor mentioned.
"So, you're going to share his fate?" Komarov asked. "No. I'm going to make sure I never have to be involved in the KGB target list until I'm dead and buried." Igor promised.
Komarov slowly approached the professor and stared at him with an engraved hatred. "But there's only one thing that I can ask of you, for what will be the right thing for reality. Fix those RBMK Reactors." Igor pleaded. "And why? And just how did you know how an RBMK reactor core explodes?" Komarov asked. "I just know. My father explained it to me. It's a disease we carry in our genetics to know these things." Igor explained, in the coldest of tones he could have put it. The gentlemen stared at each other. Igor waited for the gentleman's next move.
"Nobody will speak to you. Nobody will know you. Nobody will talk to you about Chernobyl. I'll make sure that the KGB enforce that." Komarov stated as he broke eye contact and walked off, only to pause in his tracks to hear his own words echo back at him.
