Upon the arrival at the airport, the men got a cab to the address written on the note Jimin had given them. The house – or rather, the apartment – was not what they were expecting. They had imagined the apartment would be - at the least, clean and tidy, and not too crowded. This apartment was none of the above. It was massively tall, filled with several residences, and the bricks of the building were discoloured with dirt. All over, it just looked like a dump. The two had lived luxuriously in a mansion for all their lives, and as soon as they saw the apartment Jimin had arranged for them, they knew that their previous mindsets had to change.
They had to be poor now. They had to live like everyone else.... Not that Yoongi would be able to handle that.
There was a long, tiring set of stair cases they had to climb to get up to their room. It was the top floor, ironically, and Yoongi believed this was almost Jimin's way of getting back at him for making the man go through all the trouble.
Yoongi silently groaned as he and Jungkook slouched up the stairs. The landlord either had no money for an elevator or liked to be technologically underdeveloped. Either way, the apartment could have used one – for the sake of its tenants. When finally they reached the level on which their room was, they now had to do a walk of shame past several people sitting outside their doors, smoking.
The people did not look friendly – seeming more like the people Yoongi's father hung out with – minus the riches. Some of them even looked no older than twelve as they sat there with cigarettes hanging from their mouths and sour looks on their faces. Yoongi and Jungkook walked awkwardly past them as the people scrutinised their every move. It seemed like an eternity of torture had ended when they reached the door portraying the same number as the note.
Yoongi gave Jungkook a nervous glance before cracking the door open, poking his head in to look about the room. It smelt like cigarette smoke (probably from the previous tenant) and mold. Opening the door further, Yoongi could see just how bad the place really was. On some of the walls was left over posters of scantily dressed women making disgusting faces at him – some of them ripped and covered in suspicious substances. Grimacing in disgust at them, Yoongi promised himself they'd be the first things he'd throw out.
In the lounge, where they were facing, there was one sofa, which was torn in several places and covered in pen markings. Across from it, sitting on a coffee table that looked like a cat had used it as a scratching post, was a box television that had had its back ripped off and all the wires exposed. Upon noticing the TV, Jungkook was already hopping on inside with a, "Oooh TV!" as if a broken TV was something to be excited about.
Yoongi entered the house with a sigh, shutting the door behind him as he dragged his finger along a windowsill, flicking it back up into his face to see that it was coated in a thick layer of dust. Grimacing as he wiped it away on his pants, he made his way to the kitchen beside the lounge room. It was nothing less of putrid. There were still pots and dishes stacked in the sink, with roaches and all sorts of other creatures making their own little mansions in the dirty dishes. The fridge door was still open, exposing the contents of the fridge - An expired bottle of milk, rotten vegetables and cans of cheap beer were all lining the shelves.
And the smell...
The smell was so awful Yoongi had to exit back into the lounge room, where he found Jungkook trying to rewire the TV. The boy let out an, "ouch!" when he was zapped by one of the wires, instantly pulling back to put his finger in his mouth as he attempted to numb the pain. He turned when he heard Yoongi enter, giving him a pout. "I got a boo boo." He sulked to the raven, showing him his injured finger.
Yoongi gave him a disappointed frown as he brushed by him, rolling his eyes as he headed towards the rooms where they would be sleeping – or rather, one room, anyway. Entering the room, Yoongi found it as he expected it to be, just like the whole apartment. There was no furniture at all in the room besides a torn mattress on a bed frame with its springs sticking out.
Yoongi closed his eyes, wishing it wasn't true. He guess in one way Jimin was getting back at him and in another, looking out for him. His father would never expect him to stoop so low for accommodation. After all, he was the literal heir of the Min family – one of the most notorious and wealthy gangs in the country. Jimin had been smart to put him in such dire housing, although Yoongi wished it wasn't so dire. With the lack of funds, there was a lot of work to be done. Back at home, Yoongi's room was always spotless as he was meticulous with cleaning, and eventually, Yoongi hoped this apartment would look the same, but for now, the boys needed a job, and Yoongi would acquire this job with the same reasoning Jimin had acquired the apartment. The job needed to be something that his father would never suspect.
