"But mother I don't want to go!", Moonwatcher protested.
She and her mother were stood a little ways off the entrance to the mountain-turned-school, and she was quite busy cowering behind her mother's wings, she was safe here, much safer than over there, where she could see about thirty or so dragons crowding around the entrance to Jade mountain. She could already feel the sheer amount of pressure forming around her temples from all the noise they were creating, audible sounds as well as their arguably louder inner thoughts. Her mother was loud enough in her head, she didn't need another thirty barging around as well.
"It will be good for you my little diamond, finally a chance to meet some new dragons and make some friends!", she exclaimed.
'At least I hope so, please don't be too shy', she heard her mother think.
"Mother! You don't think I'm that hopeless do you?", she wasn't exactly shocked at her mother's thoughts, as they appeared in her mind a bit too often, but still feined shock to show her that she wasn't about to put up with it.
Secretkeeper sighed and shook her head, "Moon, you have got to stop doing that! Don't let anyone find out about your... condition. Okay? You have to promise me. It's just not safe."
'Is this a bad idea?'
"Yes! It is a bad idea, please mother don't make me go in!", she pleaded, knowing any attempt to change her mother's mind was already futile, but choosing to do so anyway out of hope.
She listened to her mother's thoughts for a few seconds while she was thinking of what to say, but only heard things like 'This will be good for her', and 'I've already made up my mind.'
"Nope, I trust you Moonwatcher, and I can guarantee that in just a few weeks' time you won't even want to come back to the rainforest! Now, do you want to go in? The crowds thinned out a little."
And she was right, as Moonwatcher turned to face the crowd which was once a bustling group of dragons, was now only a mear scattering of them, and in the distance, she could already see about twenty or so dragons flying off to go back to their various kingdoms. Moon was smart and could see the positives of going in, and she knew that this school was a serious step in the right direction for a more peaceful Pyrrhia, as there would be dragons of all shapes, abilities and colours attending and living amongst each other. But this somehow scared her even more.
After an extended moment of deliberation, she finally gave in and decided to leave her mother's side.
"Fine, but if I hate it after being here for a few weeks, can I come home?"
"Of course you can, I wouldn't want you to be miserable my love. I just really want you to make some friends and have some new experiences! And I know you also want to learn, and it's not like there are any proper schools in the rainforest yet- unless you want to learn about lying or collecting fruit", she mused, giving Moon a warm smile as she gently nudged her towards the entrance, where a trio of haughty looking Icewings had just landed. These included a huge female with pale, icy blue scales, and a pair of dragonets which had similar coloured scales, and small black eyes. The male was somewhat bigger than the other and was incredibly glittery and impossibly handsome, with a lean but strong build, and the female looked thin, but vicious, and was busy giving a random sandwing a glare that could slice through bone. She heard some of her thoughts and she was definitely not too thrilled to be here.
Now she was incredibly intimidated.
'I should probably leave before she gets skittish again...'
"No wait!", she said, bundling her mother in a quick hug before she departed. She felt Secretkeepers warm arms cradle her, and she began to feel sad as this was probably the last time she would be seeing her for a while.
"Okay my little diamond, I hope you have a wonderful time here! I'll wait out here until you go in, then I'll leave alright?", she said, releasing a crestfallen Moonwatcher from the embrace.
"Fine..."
'I hope she'll be okay.'
Moon hoped that as well.
