You push Robin away, wiping your lips. Ohmygosh. He just kissed you. He just fucking kissed you?
"You shouldn't have done that." You sputter out, aggressively wiping your lips as if it would undo what just happened. You turn to run away, but your legs don't bring you that far. Stopping on the steps and sitting down. You felt dizzy.
Robin doesn't say anything, he moves to sit by you putting the box in between you guys. "I want you to keep that stuff." He pushes the box towards you, rubbing the bridge of his nose.
You stare at him dumbfoundedly.
"M' sorry. If I could take back everything I could... I just...." He wondered off, staring at the steps. He couldn't bring himself to look at you.
"You really hurt me, Robin." You say, staring at his side profile. "And kissing me isn't going to make it all better. Telling me I can keep this box of your stuff isn't going to make it all better. Apologizing isn't going to make it all better. You're fucking ridiculous. A-and you just cheated on what's her name with me! Damnit."
"You just cheated on Bruce."
"No! That's... that's different." You sigh, rubbing your temples. Even if you were dating, that wouldn't count as cheating, right? He kissed you, not the other way around.
"How's that different?"
"It just is."
"I'm not with Diane anyways. I think I dated her for a week and came to the conclusion that-" He finally turned to face you, a small blush settling on his cheeks. "That she's not you. Shit, Y/N. I miss you. I know, I know, I fucked up and I should've never broken up with you. It was the biggest mistake I have ever made in my life. I'm not expecting you to forgive me o-or get back together with me— cause you already have a boy...friend, but I wanted you to know that."
You broke eye contact with him, it was your turn to look at the steps. You didn't respond, taking in his words. What were you supposed to do? He took your heart and stomped on it, shattering it to a million pieces. And now here you guys were— sitting on the steps leading to his house.
But he just word vomited. Trusting you and showing you his vulnerable side. You knew damn well if you did that to someone, you wouldn't want to have done it for nothing. You guys could just be... friends. Right? Exes can be friends.
"We can be friends." You offer.
"Just friends?"
"Yes. Just friends."
"And then what?"
"I don't know."
"Okay." He mumbles, brushing a few strands of his hair with his fingers. Silence falls over you guys as you stare at the houses in front.
What were you gonna tell Vance? What about Bruce? You knew they would be disappointed— mostly Vance. Bruce would just be happy for you. Vance would mostly be annoyed you messed up his "revenge plan", as he called it.
"D-do you want a coke?"
"...Sure."
Robin quickly gets up, rushing inside to get two cans of cokes. You weren't really a fan of coke, you just wanted the tension in the air to go away. Even if it meant just a few seconds.
He comes back, handing you the freezing cold can that was already opened for you. You thanked him, taking a small sip before placing it on the box.
You stare at the box. "I was supposed to give this to you earlier. I just never did."
"Why not?" He asked, placing his can on the step below the one you were sitting on.
"I couldn't bring myself to do it." You admit. "It's been sitting in the back of my closet since."
He stays silent, pursing his lips. He stayed up late at night, thinking about ways to make it up to you— a million scenarios and word spoken, but he couldn't think of a single thing to say. It was like he didn't even have a vocabulary.
You take note of his silence, laughing softly. "You know how my parents reacted to us breaking up? My mom was pretty sad, my Dad on the other hand? Practically threw a party."
Robin smiled slightly. "Your dad never liked me."
"He did. I'm sure of it. He was always raving about how you could protect me, told me he was glad I went for you instead of those nerdy boys."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."
This was the first time in weeks that you actually felt in peace. All that weight your shoulders had been carrying, was finally gone. All that sadness that filled your body was slowly disappearing. It felt like you were actually getting better. Maybe you and Robin can actually be friends— wether you get back together or not, you knew he'd still be there. Maybe you guys can even get back together? Possibly.
"You know what's funny? I uh— I broke up with you cause you're the only girl I have dated. Like the only girl. Finney told me that, told me how he has only seen me with you. I'm pretty sure he was joking, but it had me thinking. I've only dated you. And I guess I just needed to date other girls. Other girls that weren't you. You know?" He asked, laughing once he was finished.
And those thoughts from earlier completely disappeared.
The fucker broke up with you because he wanted to date other girls? Because you were the only girl he has dated?
"Fuck you." You say, picking up the can of coke that was on the box and throwing it at him.
"What the fu—!" He shouted, standing up quickly. He looked at you confusedly, confused by your change of body language. He wiped the coke that spilt on his face, watching as you picked up the box of his belongings.
"Fuck you, Arellano. That's why you broke up with me? To date other girls? Are you fucking serious?" You screamed, making your way down the rest of the steps.
His face quickly fell, rushing to grab your arm to stop you. "I didn't mean it like that! I swea—"
You back away from him, his hand falling from your arm. "Then how'd you mean it? You wanna know what's funny, Y/N? I only broke up with you because I basically got bored of you! And now that I'm bored with the other girls, I want to get back together!" You mocked him.
He went to open his mouth but you interrupted him. "Don't try to talk to me at school. Don't even look at me, okay?"
"Y/N—"
"Shut up!"
Tears started blurring your vision as you spun around, gripping firmly onto the cardboard box. You practically ran away from him, ignoring his pleads.Fucking asshole.
