You shove a greasy fry into your mouth, quickly chewing it and swallowing it down. Bruce rubs his temples from across you, dropping the pencil on the table. "I give up, I give up! This is so stupid..." He says.

"How much is it worth of your grade?" You mumble, pushing the fries away.

He stops rubbing his temples, looking up at you. "I don't know, screw this anyway. I swear, she never taught us this."

A comfortable silence falls upon you guys, before you break it. "You know Finney?"

"What? Your ex's bestfriend?"

You fight the urge to roll your eyes, "Yes. Anyway, he's a total genius, I can see if he can help you on your homework."

Bruce thinks about it for a quick moment before nodding, shoving the homework back into his backpack that will eventually be crumpled.

After you're little moment of finally realizing you may or may not have a crush on the guy who was supposed to be your friend and that's it— you haven't talked to him since. By the end of that period, your heartbeat was racing and you felt like you were going to puke. You could barely mumbled a word out to him without stumbling, he probably thought you were weird. Oh my gosh, what if he did? That would be really embarrassing—

"Earth to Y/N? Hello?" Bruce says, throwing the pencil that was on the table at you. It hits you in the shoulder. You send him a glare, "What?"

He puts his hands up in defense, "I asked if you wanted to hang out at the park after school today. Maybe we can invite Vanc—"

You interrupt him, "No! I mean... no, he's busy."

Bruce raises his eyebrows at the sudden outburst, before shrugging. "Okay."

Did you have a crush on Vance? He's supposed to be your friend, just your friend. And he probably thought of you as a friend too, why'd you have to make things so awkward?

The bell rings signaling that lunch was over, Bruce groans before slinging hid backpack over his shoulders. "Two more periods..." He mumbles. He looks at you, saying a quick goodbye before leaving for class.

You roll your eyes before grabbing your backpack and leaving to your next class. Oh shit... you have your last period with Vance. Maybe you could just ditch? No... your parents would kill you. When you get to your classroom though, the group of girls who sit in the front send a glare your way.

The fuck?

Probably because of Diane or Robin, who cares.

The class period went by way quicker than you liked, dreading heading to your next class. Vance. Vance. Vance. Vance. Vance.

You take your time walking to class, purposely stopping by your locker, stopping by a water fountain, tying your shoes, just to get to class after Vance.

Vance spots you, sending a smile your way. You make your way to him, sitting in your desk. He stares at you a moment, "What? You're just gonna act like nothing happened?"

You abruptly turn your head to look at him, frozen. Oh my gosh, oh my gosh. Does he know? How would he know? You didn't tell anybody— or was it obvious? Oh my gosh, oh my gosh!

"W-what are you talking about?" You stammer out, holding a breath.

He quirks his eyebrow, "About you and baseball boy! I have to find out you two are dating from uh... what's her face? Uh... Donnie? Dannie? Donna!"

You stop holding your breath, face scrunching up in confusion. "What are you talking about?"

He scoffs, "You don't have to play dumb, pretty much everybody knows."

Is that why those girls were glaring at you in your last period? You thought it was because of Robin or his girlfriend— Robin. You told him you were dating Bruce. Oh shit. You never told Bruce, how was he gonna react?

"Vance— I am not dating Bruce... y'know how I told Robin I was dating him? I think Robin is telling everybody about it." You explain, sighing as you slouch into your chair.

Vance stays silent for a moment, before speaking, "It was Bruce."

You look back at Vance, furrowing your eyebrows in confusion. "What?"

"Bruce is telling everybody, I went up to him during passing period to see if it was true and he confirmed it. Donnie— Donna! Said he told her."

What the fuck? You saw Bruce a little over an hour ago, and he never mentioned anything about the two of you "dating" and wasn't acting out of the ordinary.

-

You spot Bruce at his locker, marching up to him you tap him on the shoulder. He jumps a little, turning around. He smiles big, "Hey babe!" He says way too loud.

"What the fuck are you doing?" You whisper-shout, resisting the urge to not punch him. You love Bruce, you really do. He's your bestfriend, but sometimes he has the most stupidest ideas.

He ignores your comment, shutting his locker before wrapping his arms around you, forcing you to walk through the hallway. He leans in towards your ear, whispering, "Play along." You do, sending small smiles to people who were gawking at you before you guys made it outside, breaking away from him. "What the he—"

"Robin talked me, nevermind... more like he threatened me— but he said you said we were dating. And since I'm the best person to be friends with, I  went along with it in hopes of not being punched."

You stop. "Wait what? He threatened you?"

"Doesn't matter, you wanna get milkshakes?" He says, pulling out quarters from his front pocket.

"No— I mean yes, but what'd he say? I swear, I'll go over to his house and slap the shit out of him—" You start, anger rising in you. You look around, spotting the familiar brunette next to Finney.

Bruce laughs, "Nothing serious, let's go get milkshakes, yeah?"

"Bruce—"

"Y/N."

"I'm being serious—!"

"I am too, milkshakes or nah?"
