"it's pathetic really, how much I still hope it's you and me at the end"
The moment I came back to my city, the first thing I noticed my car missing. "I broke my rules for you" I mutter under my breath. Staring at it's absence. I enter the house ignoring it's absence. I turn on the lights, and everything is still the same but something was missing. Something didn't feel right. I sit on the Sofa watching every detail in the house. Suddenly my phone starts to ring. I hold it and see Eli's name, ugh after what he did he seriously is calling me? I don't respond but it seems urgent he kept calling me nonstop, so I gave up and responded.
"I give up" that's the first thing he said while crying. "I can't do this" he said with heavy breath.
"Where are you Eli?" I ask him calmly.
After few seconds he sent me the location. I took a taxi and drove to this old tree house. It was pretty tall, but all these pictures around this house scream childhood. I suddenly see blood. Tears are filling his eyes. I hear him yelling from above. All I could do is climb. I follow the blood stains and I see him holding a girl between his arms. Her hair is covering her face. I pull Eli and put him on the wall I punch him so hard that blood starts to run from his nose. "What did you do??" I yell at him punching him again. "It's time to end your part to my story Eli" I yell at him trying not to feel guilty. I leave him on the floor covered with blood crying. And I go to the girl. I slowly remove her hair from her face and I see her. It's Emily. My heart skips a beat, I've never seen her like this. "Please tell me she's not dead" he cries. I notice the glass I even see wine, did he take her to a date? I pull her into my arms. And she smiles, she recognized me, I can no longer see the spark which is in her eyes all I can see is her face changing color and her body becoming lighter and lighter. "Stay with me please" I tell her with a low voice. "Eli call someone" I yell at him. "My battery is dead, there's no charger" he says and tears are filling his eyes. "Oh shit I forgot to bring my phone" I say under my breath. I meet her broken phone. This is so messed up. "Go search for help" I yell at him. He got down with his beaten face. "I never craved attention, until I tasted yours." She says with her low and soft voice. I smile a sad one. "You'll be fine, you'll be fine".
"Noah"
"Yes love?"
"You're still my person, even if I'm not."
Tears start to fill my eyes, "can you promise me one thing?"
"Mhm"
"Don't leave now?"
She dimples "how can I leave a person who felt like home to me?"
"So you promise me?"
"My soul can promise you, but I'm not sure about my body."
I turn my head trying not to show her that I'm crying. She puts her cold hand on my cheek. "Remember our old promise?"
"Till the moon and back" I say
"Yeah that's it" she smiles. "So you remember it" she says excitedly.
"Till the moon and back" she says, with a smile. She starts to close her eyes. "Emily not now please" I say.
"Why'd you leave?" She says. "My problem is that, I thought that I didn't deserve you, so I ruined it, I left" I say noticing her getting colder. "Can I tell you a secret?" I ask her.
"Mhm"
"When you smile, my heart fills up with joy."
She smiles.
"Will you remember us?" She asks.
"Always."
She smiles. Opening her eyes.
"Do you ever just think of me?, Like sometimes?" She asks.
"Everyday, I think of you"
She smiles, trying to hide her illness.
"I didn't mean to break the vase" she says. I didn't get what she said.
"I know" I tell her not knowing what she's talking about.
"I didn't mean to break Eli".
"I also know"
She smiles her soft smile. I smile back trying not to cry.
"I know what a wonderful person you are" I tell her.
"I also didn't mean to make Robin's smile drop." She says.
I look at her confused, who the heck is Robin? I bet he's her boyfriend.
"I also know that"
She smiles.
"I want you to stay." I say all of a sudden.
"Then why'd you leave before?"
"Sometimes we know what we want, at the late time."
She closes her eyes, and she smiles.
I pull her cold hand and hold it with my warm hand. I pull her and I kiss her, I'm not sure if that's my goodbye kiss or if it's an I miss you kiss, but it's just what I need right now, to my surprise she kisses me back. I can sense her tiredness her weakness. I can Sense how weaker and weaker her body is becoming, and I could never forgive Eli for what he's doing to me, I could never. I can sense her smile and then she pulls me away. "I miss you" she says. "I miss you too".
"I needed you like oxygen." She says and tears start to fill her eyes. "I want you to remember that whatever will happen, I'm here for you, and only death could change that."
"Don't do this to me Emily"
She closes her eyes and she never opened them again. I cry and cry and I'm helpless. "Look Emily I'm not sure if you can hear me but screw it, my life without you isn't the same. I struggled with your absence, look I know I've did the most horrible thing and I regret it I really do. I just want to tell you that I love you, yes Emily I love you, I have always did and I'll always do, and you're not allowed to leave okay? You're not allowed."
But silent remain. All I could hear is my heart beat. This is the moment which I realized that I lost her. I lost the only girl which made me realize how important my life is.
I can't stay like this. So I go and search for help. I see Eli on the main street yelling for help but no one was there. "Is she alive?" He asks me. I don't know how to respond. "It's all your fault"that's the only thing which I say. "Do you know what she told me Eli??" I yell at him but he remains silent. "She told me that she didn't mean to hurt you she didn't mean to break that stupid vase" I yell at him and tears are filling my eyes. But he remains silent. "I could never forgive you " I yell at him. "If you died I won't even attend your funeral Eli." I say with a clear voice. Tears start to fill his eyes. "You killed Emily".
"How'd you know her name?" He asks me. I smile. "That's what you care about?" I ask him.
"I'm sorry". "I overreacted I know". He says apologizing. "Shut up, I don't want to hear your dumb voice."
We both go silent but I break it by saying. "We'll go to the police, and you'll tell them everything"
"You can't do this Noah"
"I can and I'll" I yell at him.
"Understood?"
He starts to shake his head crying. "I can't" he says feeling sorry for himself.
"Screw you Eli."
He goes silent.
"I hope you'll end up in hell" I tell him.
"Punch me" he says crying. "Maybe this will make you feel better" he says.
"You're such a dirty man Eli, I didn't know who you are until now" I say with disgust. I can see his regret. I leave him I went to search for help, maybe a small miracle will happen. I can see the sky is becoming darker and darker, but this didn't stop me. I'll keep going. "Go bring someone from the other city, you have your Jeep" I tell him. "But isn't she dead?" He asks.
I stare at him with no word, so then he just nods. I'm starting to lose hope, I'm no longer having that energy, and something inside me is hurting. "What about the plans that we made Emily"
I yell at the dark sky but nobody responded, Asif the world is ignoring me.
