Meredith Grey
Derek is at school and I'm at my house, bored out of my mind. Carolyn invited me over to talk but I feel awkward going because she caught me with Derek. I'm her daughters best friend and now I'm dating her son who is eight years younger a than me so yes I am avoiding going over to see her.
I sigh curling up on my couch with my blanket. I hear a knock at the door. I get up pausing the notebook and walking to the door. It's Carolyn, crap.
"Hi, Carolyn" I fake a smile opening the door.
"Hello Meredith" she softly smiles.
"Come in" I say moving over so she come in.
"Oh thank you dear" she says walking in the house.
I nod leading her to the kitchen. "Meredith you know I love you like my own" she says taking a seat as I grab some tea from the cupboard.
"You have told me that a few times, yes" I chuckle grabbing two tea cups.
"You don't have to avoid me because you are with Derek" she says making me drop one of the tea cups, fuck
"I don't know what you are talking about" I say grabbing the broom and dust pan cleaning up the broken tea cup while Carolyn stands up.
"Meredith, you didn't show up, and you always show up, then you faked a smile when you realized I showed up at your door step" she sighs grabbing another tea cup and then the tea pot while I finish cleaning.
"Okay, so maybe I'm avoiding, but that's what I do avoid" I say standing up and throwing away the broken tea cup as Carolyn puts the tea pot on the stove.
"Meredith I won't treat you any different, Derek seems so happy with you" she smiles softly having me take a seat.
"He is happy, we are happy" I breath staring at the tea pot that is on the stove not looking at her.
"I mean I would love if you could actually be one of my children one day, not that you aren't already, by marriage, daughter in law" she says.
"Oh" I say looking at her.
"Well that caught your attention" she says.
"It's just- Derek is eighteen no need for marriage at that age, that's a lot of responsibility and stuff, no he's not ready we- no marriage" I ramble making her frown.
"No marriage?" she asks trying to hide her frown, it isn't working her frown is clear and very much visible.
"Not now, Derek still needs to graduate high school and go to college, move out of your house" I say turning off the stove and taking the tea pot off the stove.
"Oh, true" she nods.
"But I care for him so so much" I say pouring some tea in the teacups.
"Well that's good, I would hope so" she breaths.
"Yeah, I really care for him" I say.
"Good, are you coming for dinner tonight we would love to have you" she says.
"Sure why not" I smile.
"Wonderful" she grins.
