Change of Heart

Everything happens for a reason-6

Michael was standing in my doorway, he looked confused and mad. This was an odd look for him to have.

Michael looked me up and down and said, "cute outfit, hopefully Luke likes it as much as I do".

Why is he being like this, like he's jealous that I'm going out with Luke. I look at Michael feeling guilty and say, "thanks, Luke should be here at any moment. Why are you here?"

"I wanted to tell you that I was sorry for being drunk and mean the last time I texted you, but then I remembered you're going on a date with my best friend and got pissed again" he said to me angrily.

"I'm sorry Michael but I'm going out with Luke because he felt bad for being a jerk to me. He's going to be here soon, but we can finish this conversation after I get back." I tried telling him this without being a bitch back to him.

I let Michael into my house and introduced him to my friend Meghan who was awkwardly listening to us talking before. They sat on the couch talking for a bit while I waited for Luke to get here.

Those 5 minutes felt like a life time, but Luke finally arrived and I was excited to see him. He got out of his car wearing a leather jacket, black t-shirt, his usual black ripped skinny jeans and black vans. His hair was styled up but half flat, it looked different but it looks really good on him.

Luke walked up to my door and I did not want him to see Michael sitting on my couch. Just my luck, Luke saw Michael and instantly asked him what he was doing here.

Michael ignored him and continued to talk to Meghan. Michael can be mad at me all he wants but he has no right to be mad at Luke

Luke and I decide to leave. As we are walking to the car Luke opens the door for me and I get in, I love how he does that.

**Luke and I arrive**

Once we pull into the parking lot I look up at the huge Ferris wheel and spinning ride and instantly get excited.

Luke come around to my door and again open it and takes my hand to help me out, he's really stepping up his game!

Luke turns to me and says, "I really hope you like carnivals and rides!"

I smile widely and say, "these are my favorite things to go to, and I'm glad I'm with you"

Did I really just say that to him, God Sophia stop saying what's exactly on your mind.

We walk into the carnival and it's like Luke was reading my mind when he points to a huge sign that read 'Cotton Candy'. I love cotton candy and was drooling just reading the sign!

Luke and I got some food and sat down at a wooden bench.  It was a little awkward at first but we warmed up to each other after asking each other some questions about ourselves-

"What's your favorite color Sophia?" Luke asks me with his eyes fixed on me.

"I love the color purple, you can probably tell because it's the color of my hair. What's yours?" I awkwardly say.

"I like the color blue actually, the same color as my eyes" Luke says with a big smile.

Luke has the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen and his smile is even more beautiful.

We ask each other more random questions about ourselves and finally finished all our food. After we are we decided to go on a ride, I chose the ride that looks like a giant ship with the Egyptian face on the ends.

Luke looked a little scared at first but I chose to ignore it as we took our seats on the very top, which is the best spot to get.

The ride started to sway back and forth gaining more speed each swing, I was so excited and looked over at Luke who looked like he was about to pass out. I thought it would be a good idea to hold his hand and get his mind off of the fact we are swinging back and forth on a ride.

I think it made Luke feel better because he looked at me smiling wide like he always does when he's genuinely happy. The ride was soon over and Luke was finally breathing again, it was hard for me to not laugh at him. He looked so adorable too!

Luke was finally starting to rub off on me and I was beginning to enjoy his company.

Luke and I went on a few more rides and Luke continued to look nervous until we went on one of the baby roller coaster, I think this was his favorite.

The carnival was going to close soon, Luke decided it would be a good idea to go on the Ferris Wheel before we left.

It was our turn to get on, we sat down on number 22, my favorite number. I had a good feeling about this ride I'm not sure if it was because we were in my favorite number or just how well tonight was going.

When we finally reached the top I asked Luke if we could take a picture with the rest of the carnival behind us, we took the picture and at the very last second Luke kissed me on the cheek. It took me by surprise and my cheeks instantly got red, I felt so nervous for the first time all night.

Luke saw how nervous I felt and said, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that but I couldn't help myself"

Even though I wanted to be mad at him I couldn't be and just smile at him and said, "it's ok, I'm glad you did"

We were walking back to the car and it was starting to get cold. Luke looked over at me and handed me his jacket to put on, it was nice and warm and smelled just like him.

**arriving back at home**

I got out of the car and Luke followed me. We got to my door and I invited him inside because I knew no one would be awake in my house.

I opened up the door and to both of our surprise we saw Michael and Meghan kissing on MY couch, yes MY couch.

I slammed the door in order for them to stop.  It worked and they both were embarrassed.

Meghan got up and came over to me. She looked at me and said, "Sophia, I'm so sorry we shouldn't be doing this especially not in your house. I'm so sorry I know you weren't sure how you felt about him, I'm such a shitty friend"

I ignored her and turned to Luke who seemed to be annoyed, "I'm sorry about all this, I had a great time with you and I hope we can do it again?"

Luke looked down at me smiling and said, "I'm glad you had fun, I did too. I'll call you tomorrow, I want to take you somewhere around lunch!"

I nodded at Luke and him and Michael left, leaving me alone with Meghan.

As annoyed as I was I couldn't help but think to myself, everything happens for a reason and everything went well tonight.
