Season: Winter
Theodore Pov.
Its been 90 days since I last seen Iven in person. The day after finding Apples dead body. I was fully prepared to comfort my grieving mate. Give her all the attention she needs and deserves. I made a promise to myself that I would never take from her again.
Looking back now.
That hard fact sets uncomfortably inside of me. Mates don't do what I have done. Yet I can not live with regret, when I know I only acted out of love. Me and June rode back to my house in silence. Their was nothing for us to say to eachothere.
Pulling in I told him he could take Kent's old bed room for the night. That was the first time and last time he made full eye contact with me.
June just stared at me like he was looking for somthing. I didn't know what to say so I just nodded my head and left him in the car. Maybe he needed space?
Upon entering the house I found it to be empty. Besides my office phone was a quick note. Scribbled in Ivens hand writing.
'I won't be able to sleep tonight. Please don't let that stop you from getting any rest. I'll be outside for the night, walking the permiter of our grounds. Let's talk in the morning.
Goodnight.'
My stomach swished around nervously. Triggering me to start the mental game of 'What if ?'
What if I had cleaned the body up before hand?
Would she be coming to bed tonight?
What if I had picked a different time?
Would it still feel like shes pulling away from me?
I'm not sure how I managed to fall asleep but the help of hard liquor did help. The smell of bacon infiltrated my nostrils. Slowly waking me up the next day. It was like waking up inside of a dream. Opening me eyes a plate of all my favorite breakfast foods. Was sitting beside me in bed.
I didn't think twice about it, sitting upwards. Grabbing the plate I immediately starting eating.
My taste buds erupted and I hummed with pleasure.
Which was instantly cut short by the chuckled familiar laugh.
"I told you he would eat first." His voice shot goose bumps through out my body. Shame made it hard to lift my head towards the doorway.
I didn't explain anything to Kent when I sent him off with my brother. Told him to pack a small bag and that Sabin needed his help. He didn't question me probably because the night before I was intoxicated asshole.
Waking up with a bump on my head I knew he had whacked me over the head with somthing. My face head stayed blanked though. When I watched him put his bag in the back of Sabin's truck. He kept searching my face for any clues.
Holding eye contact the entire time, even through the passager side mirror.
He has the same expression on his face but this time I know he has different questions.
I'm not sure what to say. If I apologize then Iven will start to ask questions. If I tell her the truth then.....everything will change.
Maybe things have already changed. Juding from Kent's simple black pants and black hoodie. Theirs no colors popping off his tanned skin. No flare of his hands or song to match his mood.
Kent teases me, probably finding sympathy in my dilemma.
"Oh don't look like you're seeing a ghost now. You knew I would eventually come back."
