SEQUEL TO LIES YOU TELL
After Graces world comes crashing down around her, she struggles to pick up the pieces of her broken heart and mend her shattered perception of life upon learning that the man she grew to love more than life itself was a cold...
"Grace— Grace your guests are here," Emily said with a sense of urgency from the other side of Graces master bedroom door.
Grace clenched her jaw tightly looking at the door with a frown. "Mommy okay!" She shouted back irritatedly, waiting to hear Emily's heels clicking against the polished hardwood floor as she walked away.
There was only one thing Grace hated more than being late— being rushed while she was late.
The devastation of the sudden hurricane back home had caused a ripple in everything. Grace and Joseph had been living back at their second home in New York for the past two weeks. While it was nice being 'home' and close to family again, it just didn't feel the same anymore. The baby shower that Grace had put so much time and effort into planning so perfectly to welcome the arrival of her and Joseph's precious baby girl would no longer be happening as they'd planned it in Miami.
Grace being Grace was upset about not being able to have it in Miami with the party planner she'd hired so in true spoiled brat fashion, she didn't want to have one at all now. But Emily being Emily, had convinced Grace to allow her to plan and throw them one anyways while they were in New York.
She had been frazzled all day, from trying to find a last minute outfit, not having time to eat at all today, having to do her own hair and makeup and now currently not being able to reach her own feet to put her heels on. Grace had been sitting on the edge of the bed for the past five minutes trying to suck in her stomach and lift her leg up high enough to slip the sparkly heel onto her foot but she'd been failing miserably. If it weren't for her fresh set of lashes she'd be in tears right now.
"Oh my gosh!" Grace groaned frustratedly as she slid off the edge of the bed onto the floor, her bottom lip quivering as she stared at her huge belly that seemed to have grown over night. She was beginning to enter those stages of complete uncomfortableness and all she wanted to do was curl up in bed.
Joseph came through the door only minutes after Emily.
"Do not rush me," Grace said sternly, pointing at him from where she sat on the floor before he could say anything. She knew her mother had sent him up there.
He stopped in the threshold, furrowing his brows noticing the teary eyed, pouty expression on her face. "What's wrong wit you— why you crying?"
"Im not crying!" Grace protested. "Close the door,"
Joseph closed the door behind him, helping her off the ground and back onto the bed.
"So why you lookin like that then, what's wrong wit you,"
"I can't put my shoes on," She mumbled.
Joseph looked at her heels on the ground and back up at Grace trying to keep from laughing as he could see she's serious and she's seriously upset about it too. He picked the sparkly heeled sandals off the ground and lifted her foot himself so he didn't crease his fresh Air Forces by kneeling, slipping the heel onto her swollen foot.
"Baby maybe you shouldn't wear these,"
"No I have to," Grace protested passionately. "They're the star of my outfit,"
She'd chosen a white babydoll dress that hung around her shoulders and stopped just short of her knees with a pair of Rene Caovilla pink and purple sparkly heels with butterflies on them to match the original baby shower theme. Her long brown hair was in loose curls that she'd combed out with her fingers and she'd applied a natural bronzy makeup look to her face. Fastened to each ear lobe, a five carat emerald cut diamond earring and her wedding ring to accessorize.
