I didn't plan to fall asleep on the plane, but it was a great nap. I was still stretching as I walked through the airport. Before I could get to the exit doors, I pulled out my phone and text A.B. that I was ready. I yawned before looking up.
Standing right outside the airport, next to his Mustang was my man. I nearly ran out the airport. When A.B. saw me, he smiled brightly. We embraced each other.
"I'm glad you made it safe. How was your flight?" He asked me.
I was still lost in the scent of his cologne as I closed my eyes, nearly burying my face in his shirt.
"Are you tired?" A.B. asked.
I finally spoke, "I took a nap on the plane. It was good." I opened my eyes and looked at A.B. with my arms still wrapped around his torso.
"Okay. Are you hungry?"
I nodded my head. "I'm starving."
A.B. starred at me. It wasn't like he was deep in thought, more so he seemed to be analyzing.
"What is it?" I asked him.
"How long are you staying?"
"Aww, you want me to stay forever?" I joked.
A.B. chuckled, "If only forever were possible."
We released one another.
"I'm here until Tuesday morning. I have to go back to rehearse for two more performances. I might also be opening for the Grammy's," I informed him.
A.B. put my luggage in his car. "You're doing big things, Jamie."
I didn't think about it until he said it. This whole time I've been so focused on Aja when I'm booked to perform on a popular late night show, Good Morning America, and possibly the Grammy's. What is wrong with me?
A.B. opened the passenger's door for me.
"Thank you." I stepped inside the car.
With A.B. at the wheel, we left the airport.
Then, I remembered. "Can I see Mr. Dave after we get something to eat?"
A.B. answered, "We have to see him tomorrow morning if that's okay..."
I glanced at A.B. "Of course. What are we doing today?"
A.B. looked over at me, "You just got back home. I'm not gonna take up time that you could be spending with your family. We'll hang out tomorrow."
Not fair!
"What do you have a taste for?" He asked me.
"Umm," I thought, "Surprise me."
I was so in bliss at the moment that I didn't realize he drove to my parents' house. Now there's no way I'm gonna be able to go out to eat with A.B. I sat in the passenger's seat looking at my nails when he got out the car. Then, he opened my door. I shook my head.
"Jamie, you said to surprise you."
I slowly looked up at him. "Somehow, I feel like even if I said what I wanted to eat, we'd still end up here. You know my parents are not gonna let me walk in to drop off my stuff and leave."
"Remember when I said we'll hang out tomorrow?" He smiled at me.
I playfully rolled my eyes as I got out the car. "Hurry up with my bags, chico!" I snapped my fingers as I walked to the front door of my parents' house.
