𝗕𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗳𝘂𝗹: Cookies Of Darkness

[Chapter Twenty-Three]

Behind the two, a sharp cough was heard; Licorice lifted his face off theirs and awkwardly stared at the person before the two. Dark Choco stood silently, watching the two like a hawk." I saw it all, wait til Pomegranate finds out," he spoke emotionlessly, turning away swiftly. The two paused, turning to face each other. 

"Why the fuck did we do that-" Licorice angrily whispered, with a hint of embarrassment. [Y/N] narrowed their eyes; he decided to do it, not them. They shoved him off and rushed over to Dark Choco, who was disappearing into the dense tainted forest. Unaware of the ground beneath them, they accidentally tripped up on a rock. Falling over, they braced for impact. Yet, a pair of arms wrapped around their waist and pulled them upright. Nonetheless, it wasn't anyone other than the notorious ex-prince.

"Look, we need to talk, just you and I, [Y/N]" he solemnly said, grasping their hands in his. They were awkwardly facing each other. It'd been a while since they talked, face to face. It didn't end well for the two last times when [Y/N] attacked him, being restrained by a cake-hound male. They looked away from his cold stare, a wave of guilt. 

Dark Choco moved closer, tightening his grasp. "I understand you don't want to face me, but please darling, listen to me..." His hand moved up towards their face, resting on their cheek. [Y/N] glanced up at him, trying desperately to avoid eye contact, yet some part of them wanted to listen to his side. "I and you didn't have much to get to fully know each other, which I understand isn't the best for a relationship. But, after I was held hostage with you, Pomegranate came into my cell and threatened me... I had no choice but to obey her...I-"

"Why! Just why!" [Y/N] cried, pushing him away, "why did you betray me?" Dark Choco pulled away in shock, an expression dramatic enough to beat Affogato's. He was a mix of confusion, anger, despair, annoyance and guilt at once.

"Since when did I betray you?! You're acting like I'm the bad guy! I came to fucking apologise, and then I see you and that slut kissing each other! How do you think I felt- do you ever fucking consider my feelings?!" He shouted at them, raising his voice and hands. "It's over. Forget my fucking apology. I fucking hate you, [Y/N]. Go die in a hole..." Was his last words, darting through the thick trees, vanishing.

Their eyes widened, filling with tears. At that moment, Licorice managed to finally get there. He was surprised and concerned for them. He wrapped his arms around them and pulled them into a small embrace. They leaned into his chest, tears pouring down their cheeks. It was the heat of the moment; they didn't mean it. But, they were certain he meant his words. Every single bit of it was true, right?. He tried reassuring them that everything would be fine, yet that didn't help in the slightest. After an hour of nonsense, rustling was heard nearby. He stood in front of them and held out his scythe, ready to attack. "Who's t-there?!" He threatened, determined to protect [Y/N]. 

Red Velvet came out of the bushes panting, glaring at Licorice. He was covered in bruises and scratches. "Where the actual fuck were you two?! We were waiting on you two for hours now!" He exclaimed, heading over to [Y/N]. He leant over into Licorice's ear and whispered something they couldn't hear: "I'll take it from here,".

Red Velvet picked up [Y/N], who was emotionally hanging on threads, leaving Licorice trailing awkwardly behind. Red Velvet knew inside deeply what was going on between the two. And he didn't give a fuck about the prince for the record. He only cared about [Y/N], and pleasing his master. Well, the only reason he cared about pleasing his master was that she, Dark Enchantress, looked after him when he was only a child, yet he seemed to have been replaced with Pomegranate. In his perspective, she was a bitch who outdid everyone and shone in Dark Enchantresses eyes, making her special. She wasn't as powerful as him and didn't have much potential.  

The three hurriedly made their way back into the crimson sunset. Dawn was near. The sky was turning a midnight blue, filled with shining stars. [Y/N] heavily sighed, followed by a short yawn. Hopefully, it was just a bad dream, all of this. And that they'd be reunited with their brother and friends...yet that's a long, long way away in their future for now...
