Pomegranate meant her words...right?...

[Y/N] slumped on the damp wooden flooring, rigid chains bounding them to the corner of the room; the darkest place where nobody could see them. Reminiscing about what happened the night before, they harshly bit their tongue in an attempt to seal the fact that they were being hunted to protect [Y/N]. And that of course failed. Letting out a heaving sigh, they pressed their stiff back against the wall to fix their posture. The metal chains bounding them clattered against the mossy stone. They narrowed their (E/C) eyes, scanning their surroundings. The only thing present to them was the heavy panting and hyperventilating of Licorice, who was sternly guarding their cell despite almost passing out twice. He wrapped his bony fingers around the cell bars for support, hunching over. As he regained his breath, Licorice opened the cell doors and headed over to [Y/N].

In his cold hands, nested a small bowl. They couldn't smell anything from it. "T-there you go," he mumbled, dropping the bowl carelessly. Particles of water splashed against the floor and walls. They merely stared at him, they gave Licorice a look of disgust as he made his way out.

Now, they were bound into the wall by the water puddle he had 'accidentally' spilt. They rolled their eyes at him, as they felt his golden eyes stare at them. Licorice swiftly moved away, hoping to avoid eye contact. The chair he rested on fell backwards as he perched on it, resulting in [Y/N] trying not to laugh. "Karma," they smirked, laughing under their breath. As the hours passed by, a noticeable cold mist drifted into their cell from the outside. They didn't think much of it, just another deep sigh. If anything, Licorice should be sick of guarding [Y/N] and want to do something useful for himself.

"Licorice..." They muttered, trying to get his attention. As he opened his eyes, they felt his golden gaze settle on them. He remained silent. "Listen, we'll make a deal. You set me free from these chains, I'll help you do whatever you want to do."

Silence. [Y/N] awkwardly bit their lip, wishing he'd just answer them. Licorice's golden eyes shifted to the opened door, fixing his posture. "Licorice, I'll handle this," Sighing a breath of relief, he rushed out of the dungeons and up the cobbled staircase. The figure narrowed his eyes, focusing on something in the distance.

They felt his blood-red wander across their frail body, and then to the barred window. His cape swished from side to side with every step. Something caught his attention. Suddenly, a bright ominous light from outside sparked into their cell like fireworks. Except, it wasn't a stunning variety of colours: it was a fierce and vibrant orange. Their eyes widened, hope sparking in their heart. Dark Choco furrowed his brows, pressing his lips into a narrow line. As he swiftly turned away, he knelt beside [Y/N]. He grasped his scarred hands into theirs, entwining fingers. "Before I go, I just want to say, I lo-"

The door burst I pen suddenly, revealing a distressed Pomegranate. "Get to your station Dark Choco!" she yelled dramatically, pointing to the stone wall defending their castle. She darted back out to the main building, leaving the two in silence.

"I love you..." He finished, letting out a sincere smile. Placing his bruised on their chin, he leaned in and gave them one final kiss. A subtle taste of chocolate lingered on their tongue. "Even if we never see one another again, I wish you well, my love..."

With those honest words, crystal tears formed in [Y/N]'s eyes. Their flushed face was buried into the palms of their hands. Dark Choco realised how upset they were, and rushed back. He pressed his lips against theirs, tears rolling down their rosy cheeks. He pulled them into a tight embrace, pressing their back against the wall. He desired to do so much more with them, yet time was running short. He parted from them, watching in guilt how they glanced away from him. Dark Choco gave them a small peck on the cheek and carefully arose not to disturb them. "I-I love you...too..." [Y/N] mumbled...placing their fingers on where he kissed them.

Dark Choco barely managed a smile, holding back the guilt and tears. Turns out, something more dramatic was yet to come, resulting in severities for the opposing sides. Sighing, Dark Choco bid farewell to [Y/N] as he rushed up the cobbled stairs. There were alone, all alone with the raging orange sparks outside. Barely managed to get up, they stumbled over to the windows just about making it without the chains restricting them from going any further.

Their eyes widened, yet positively- "T-they arrived for me?!"
