A rush of energy forced through me. Like pushing from death to life and to death again. I wasn’t sure where I was, or what was coming next, but everything around me was gravely dark and silent. ‘Am I dead already? Is this the end of me? Would I make heaven or hell? Not after Hazel left me like that... No, I still want to meet my daughter!’ These thought toyed with me until a loud buzzing sound intervened.

‘Dzzuuuu!’

My dead eyes woke me to light. With a lot of effort, I closed it and then opened it again. Slowly, this time. Instead of light, it came in blur colours.

‘Am I alive?’ I wondered, trying to figure out where I was. A flow of blood soared in my ears as the surrounding commotion intensified.

‘Dzzzuuuuuu!!’

My chest movement exaggerated to the loud, disturbing buzz. Then a beeping sound that monitored my heart beats came through. Its vibrating sound reduced by the second and I knew I was definitely in the hospital. They placed the machines side by side of me as if my life depend on it. The monitor, guarding me like Angels, displayed two zig- zagged lines moving with flagging signals.

I grabbed my head at the thunderbolt headache that struck through me. My head was literally swimming. My vision was still unclear, but I pulled up, strong this time. Properly. My joints creaked for help. ‘Why am I this weak? Who long has it been?’

“Uh... My head.” I breathed, trying to turn.

“Eve!” Someone raised his head from beside the bed and my blur vision cleared at once. It was Adam. His face was a dull from the sleep but his sudden alert brightened up his rugged face.

Tears of joy filled out the whiteness of his eyes as he pulled his head up to me. His forehead clung to mine, as if he was ready to share the pains with me.

“Adam.” My chapped lips trembled as I tried pulling up out of his touch, but that was impossible. He rested his head on the pillow with mine, saying nothing. I instantly laid-back, and gave up on trying. "What happened to me?"

“You pass out yesterday afternoon... I had to rush you here. The doctor said you’re two months pregnant.”

I jerked my head slowly, as if shaking the words I’d just heard of out my ears. “What? I’m with child? But... But we only.”

“Yeah, I know. We did it only once, but maybe we would have a child, right?” He chuckled. I’ve never seen Adam elated like this, ever. He must be happy with all of this.

“Child?” I gasped. Perturbed at the thought of carrying and having his child. “No... I don’t want this.”

Adam placed a leg on the bed, properly leaning to me. His smile died as I stared into his alluring Grey eyes. I didn’t bother looking away. His eyes seemed to look right through me.

“You look scared. This is unlike you, Eve.”

“Uh...” I exhaled heavily. “I’ve always wanted this and now, I don’t think I’m ready for any of this.”

“What part aren’t you ready for?” His thick brows pulled together in a little frown.

“To be in an open relationship with you. Carrying your child. To be your baby’s mama.”

A soft laugh cracked out of his lips, and its yoke of joy busted across my face. I watched Adam take his time to laugh. He looked calm with it while it petrified me. 'What was funny?’ I pondered and just rolled my eyes as he held the suppressed laugh.

“The way you said to be my baby’s mama just cracked me up.” Adam confessed as if hearing my thoughts and he suddenly paused.

I was totally confused. I guess he was, too. He should be. These days, things happen so fast and I have no control over what would happen next. It’s best we stop.
