"It felt evil to even be happy about the news knowing how much that same news hurt others."

Nova
"I think you should hear him out honestly, maybe there's a good explanation." Nahmari says to me over the FaceTime call.

"I don't know it seemed pretty legit if the mom knew about her." I reply.

"You never know I mean I wouldn't just give up, especially with the way you've been hyping him up for the past two years." She smirks.

"We'll  see." I smile.

"Are you just going to skip over the part where you told me you spent the night at his apartment! Tell me everything NOW." She says excitedly.

"Well we talked and stuff and we maybe might have had sex." I whisper the last part trying to make it unheard. I knew if I told her she would freak.

"Excuse me y'all did what?" She asks.

"We had sex," I mumble.

"YALL HAD SEX!" She screams into my AirPods.

"Damn girl calm down."

"Don't you dare tell me to calm down yo lil virgin ass finally got some dick. I thought you was finna be 30 with cats, we gotta celebrate." She smiles.

"girl hush." I laugh.

"I'm so serious we going to get you a little virgin cake and all I'm already texting Maria about it."

"When did y'all get each others numbers?" I ask confused.

"I got everyone's numbers I work in mysterious ways." She jokes.

"Even Andre's?" I ask smirking.

"Okay now you pushing it, I don't want that man whores number. I mean he was nice to look at but judging from what happened at the club that's all there is."

"Okay but maybe that was just one night."
I say and she scoffs.

"Girl, have you ever heard the saying when people show you their true colors take it?"

"Yeah I have but Andre's not that bad."

"Yeah yeah whatever."

"Nova," My dad calls from down stairs.

"Okay girl I got to go my dads calling me."

"Okay girl imma go plan your popped cherry party." She smiles.

"Okay." I giggle.

"Oh and nova!"

"Yeah?"

"Don't forget what we talked about."

"Okay I won't, see you later."

She waves goodbye hanging up the call. And I start walking down stairs. Nahmari's been encouraging me to to tell my parents and friends about the real reason I went to boarding school. She even helped me practice how I was going to tell them.

I was really nervous about telling them because I didn't know how they would react. But I knew I had to do this in order to get closer from the situation. They at least deserve to know why I left.

"What's wrong?" I ask my dad as I walk into his office.

"Nothings wrong sweetheart I just wanted to show you something I think you'll really like it."

"What is it?"

"My old friend has a son that works at an art museum and he said that he would be able to get to you in in you're interested." He says.
