"I don't want to leave you, my fireheart. You have to promise to return. To always return to me and your son. Ned is quite that Ed will be safe in Riverrun", Rhogar expressed, his calloused hands holding hers. She was ready to smuggle her friend out of King's Landing.

She needed Oberyn to be safe. She owed it to him. She owed her newfound happiness to him. Nothing would have remained if it weren't for him.

"I am, and I will be careful. Our little Rhaelys will be alright", Cassana passionately kissed her husband one last time before she parted ways with him. She was going to be all alone. She knew Jane Estermont and knew she would die protecting her lady, and now a legitimized Connington was her sworn shield. Arthur Connington is a red-headed lad named after Arthur Dayne himself.

Arthur met her halfway, descending the small stairs into the dock. A fairly small but fast vessel would take them to a hidden shore in King's Landing. She had contracted two trusted swell swords that called themselves Blood and Cheese to move through Maegor's tunnels and into Oberyn's chambers.

Rhogar lingered nearby, also dressed for sparring, the wariness in his eyes telling Arthur enough: the Lord of the Tides had no idea what this was about.

But the young queen crossed her arms. "Do you plan to sail with us to White Harbor?"

An unnecessary question for Dawn in the middle of the sea. "Yes"

"And you plan to join us in this war?"

"I'm certainly not going there to enjoy the weather. Besides, I offering my sword and shield to you, your grace".

Amusement glittered in her eyes, though her face remained grim. "Then this is how it's going to work"

Arthur waited for the list of orders and demands, but the queen was only watching him, the amusement fading into something steel-hardened.

"Your father was Rhaegar Targaryen's sworn shield", she said, "And now, Daenerys Targaryen has appeared to have a claim on the throne. It leaves you as an abled swordsman whose allegiances I do not know or really trust. Not when Daenerys's army is likely on the move toward the continent at this very moment. So you do understand the conflict of interest, do you?

He opened his mouth, bristling at the haughty one, but Cassana went on, "So I'll make you an offer, Arthur Connington". She tapped her bare forearm, "Swear a sacred oath to me, and I'll let you roman wherever you wish".

'Rhogar cursed behind them, but Arthur barely heard it over the roaring in his head. And she continued, "I want nothing from you, and you want nothing from me. The only order I shall ever give you is the one I would ask of any citizen of my realm: to protect and defend your kingdom and its people. You can live in a hut in Starfall for all I care"

She meant it, too. "I have no other choice, I can't risk my Kingdom". She still held her arm towards him. "But I would not take away something as precious as your freedom away from you

"Fine", Arthur said, kneeling.

"Gods spare us", Rhogar murmured.

He had grown to know what Arthur was like. A conniving prick, but also an outspoken lad who was almost too loyal. He did not do always the right thing. He had little to no honor, but he was very skilled with a sword.

Cassana's lips curved in that hint of a smile, amused and yet edged with a touch of cruelty, as she glanced at her husband, "You'll have to deal with it, my love. No to-the-death dueling. No

vengeance-fighting. Can you stomach it?

"If I tell you he's a prick and a miserable bastard to be around, will you change your mind?"Arthur snarled, but Cassana snorted, "Isn't why we certainly like Arthur, though?", she jested,
