As the group moves toward the forest Lan Tian can hear the bickering of cultivators on the path so they opt out for the... less conventional route. Dodging his way through trees and bushes he finally makes his way to the edge of the forest.

As they are about to make a step forward he feels a strong force pull his shoulder back and into the large figure of their dad. "What was that for?"

Lan Wangji only guides Lan Tian's eyes upwards towards the large golden nets scattered around the forest.

"Oh thanks." Heat rises in Lan Tian's face as he realized how stupid of a mistake he almost made.

The pair quickly make their way through the forest cutting down nets and keeping an eye out for the hand.

As they get farther into the forest Lan Tian's thoughts can't stop from drifting towards an old friend. After all he is from a clan that would be able to afford all of these nets. It had been three years since they've last spoken and they couldn't help but wonder if he things of them too.

"I'LL BREAK YOUR LEGS!" Speak of the devil. The voice carried through out the whole forest and grabbed the attention of both of the Lan Clan cultivators. With a nod they both go off in the direction of the commotion.

A loud thunderous voice sent chills down Lan Tian's spine. Not only was Jin Ling there but also his Uncle Jiang Cheng. They could feel the murderous intent from a mile away.

Just as a figure wearing black and red had a sword about to be brought down on him, Lan Tian's light blue sword cuts through the air in an instant to stop the blade. No blade in particular was stronger or of better quality, it was just the pure difference in ability between the two wielders. It seemed like Jin Ling was still behind Lan Tian as always. As the sword reversed Lan Tian couldn't help but notice the figure gawk at the familiarity of  the blade. After all Lan Tian's blade Ortus is almost as famous as his dad's Bichen.

At the same time Jiang Cheng's voice came from the distance.

"I was wondering who it was. So, it's Lan-er-gongzi and the child."

Lan Tian watched as their father swiftly swept in front of the person wearing red and black.

Jiang Cheng rises an eye brow and firmly adds, "Hanguang-jun truest lives up to his reputation of appearing where there is chaos, and for once his devil spawn isn't the cause of it. What brings you two here to the deep mountains?"

Glancing around at the other Lan clan juniors behind him Lan Tian can't help but feel the resentment bubble up in their chest again.

Lan Jingyi being the blunt and outspoken sort rebutted, "Isn't Sect Leader Jiang here too?" Lan Tian can't help but give a little huff in agreement at his boldness.

Jiang Cheng replied coldly, "Tsk. An elder is speaking, who are you to interrupt? The Lan Clan of Gusu pride themselves on being a clan of etiquette. This is what disciples are being taught?"

"Not all of them." Lan Tian smirks at the man before him. No one will make fun of them and their clan.

Lan Wangji shoots daggers with his eyes at Lan Tian before sending a look to him an the other juniors.

Lan Tian regains his composure before proceeding, "Jin-gongzi, the Night Hunts have always been a fair competition amping the clans. But Jin-gongzi has set up nets all over Mount Dafan and made it difficult for the cultivators of other houses to tread, for fear of falling into traps. Does this not violate the rules of Night Hunts?"

Jin Ling responds coldly but Lan Tian can detect a trace amount of excitement and teasing in his words, "What can I do if they step into traps due to their own stupidity? I must capture my prey; everything else can wait."

Out of the corner of his eye Lan Tian could see Lan Wangji wrinkle his brow. Jin Ling suddenly stopped talking and he paled in panic. In almost an instant all civility went out the window.

"You, Lan! What's the meaning of this? It's not up to you to discipline Jin Ling. Release the spell!"

Lan Tian's scoffs and giggles only seemed to enrage Jiang Cheng more.

Lan Sizhui said, "There is no need to be angry, Sect Leader Jiang. As long as he does not forcibly break the spell, it will be automatically undone in one incense time."

Turning in the direction of the newcomer wearing purple Lan Tian tried to muffle their still growing laughs. "Sect Leader!" The man seemed more hesitant after spotting the Lan Clan members beside Jiang Cheng.

"Go ahead. What other bad news do you have to report?"

The disciple stubbles over his quite words, "Not long ago, a flying blue sword destroyed the immortal-binding nets you arranged."

"How many?"

"All of them."

As Jiang Cheng's anger rose Lan Tian began to slowly creep away from the man twisting his ring.
All seemed to move slower as Lan Tian's breath moved faster and faster. Thoughts of what happened the last time these four cultivators met flooded his vision. In a moment it all stopped. Lan Tian looked to their right and could see the one person who protected him through everything. His dad.
