The Feasting Love

Anuj and Anupama, were celebrating their karwachauth, together, after their marriage had been fixed. It was a love-turned into-arranged marriage and both of them were extremely excited about spending the rest of their lives together. After all, who wouldn't want to spend their time with their partner who they love and who loves them back, unconditionally. 

His phone buzzed at the silent notification. And what he saw made him breathless and he lost the concentration from the PowerPoint presentation in front of him. She, his Anupama, had sent him a half covered picture of hers in her traditional look and was fasting for him. It was more of a silhoutte. And so was he. He had waited for her for 26 long years, and now that they were engaged and all set to get married in some time, he could hardly keep himself away from her and same was the case with her. 

Anuj kept looking at the picture again and again. To say that she looked ravishing would be an understatement. He was in a fix. He couldn't openly praise her in front of the clients, but he couldn't stay quiet without complementing her too. The meeting he had with his clients was way tooo important and this deal, after cracking it, would do wonders to the Kapadia Empire.

She knew that her message would have put him in a tight spot. As much as, he must have wanted to lavish praises on her, and as much as she wanted him to see her in that get up, she had to wait. He was in the middle of the meeting and coming to the rented apartment from the outskirts of Ahmedabad was a really long drive. 

Both of them had a really tight and busy day and yet, they had decided that they'll break the fast together, only after seeing each other in person. Not that, they couldn't do a video call, but Anuj and Anupamaa wanted to feel and experience the feeling of seeing each other alongside the moon and breaking each other's fast. Fasting was normal for Anupamaa and no one really bothered to inquire if she had fasted for Anuj. Though Anuj, could never tolerate his hunger, he fasted, so that he and his, would be together till eternity. He teared up, thinking about the 26 years without her physical presence in his life. 

He sent her a message saying, Uff Uff uff.. Nazar hi nahin hatt rahi... Aa raha hoon mein aur bahut zor ki bhook bhi lagi hai..  And trailed off. She smiled as soon as she read the message and understood the message. Responding with a Theek che and 👍, she went ahead with the preparations, with her eyes on the clock. Normally, they both prepare dinner together. Today, she had to do it alone. She had started early from the dance academy to make all the preparations and also took some much needed rest before she could face Anuj. There was no need of extra make-up, as the blush had doubled up and her cheeks, glowing.

While he was driving back home and she was standing by the window, they had their eyes on the moon which was acting as a messenger for both of them. Though he had got a partial glimpse of her, he knew the photo would do no justice, when she would actually be in front of him. And for her, she was yet to see her moon.

As soon as he stepped out of the car, they looked at the silver shining in the sky, which kinda conveyed to her that he was home and they couldn't wait to see each other. 

Unlocking his house, and getting ready in as much less time as possible, he made sure that he looked decent and fresh. Wearing a cream short kurta and a gelled hair, this bespectacled man could give a tough competition even to Eros. But right now, he was racing to see his moon and his heart was thumping at the very thought of seeing her all dressed up for him. Walking across the corridor and after ringing the bell continuously, eagerly waiting to have a peek at her, he realized that she had kept the door slightly ajar. With only a candle lit and a few fairy lights, blinking alternatively, he waited with a baited breath to catch a glimpse of her. And found her standing in the balcony, with her back towards him.  Anuj, you are a goner today.. How are you so fortunate that this gem said yes to you and loves you back, he questioned himself. Tiptoing and taking quick steps towards her, he took her in a back hug and felt alive, yet again.
